Fixed star Capella, Alpha Aurigae, appears to be a single star to the naked eye, but is a quadruple star system marking the goat carried by the Charioteer, Auriga Constellation. Magnitude −0.48. Spectral type G3II.

The traditional name Capella is derived from the diminutive of the Latin word capra which means Female Goat, thus Small Female Goat, or Little Goat.

The name means Little She-Goat. Sometimes called Amalthea in honor of the nurse who reared Jupiter upon the milk of the goat. [1]
