Spiculum Astrology

SPICULUM. 8 M, 20 M, 21 M Sagittarii. Two clusters and a nebula (M20) situated on the arrow-head of Sagittarius. Of the nature of Mars and the Moon, and specifically mentioned by Ptolemy as productive of blindness. [1]

TRIFID NEBULAE. 8M, 20M, 21M Sagittarii. 2 cluster and a nebulae. This star group imparts to its native’s eye or ear problems, refinement, the courage of their convictions, ambition, fetishes, self-destruction, and chronic, difficult-to-diagnose or possibly serious illness. [5]

Ptolemy rates it as a Mar-Moon type, another of the ‘blind stars’, and a figure of great foreboding. We must at least go along with the planetary simile, for there is indeed a strong tendency towards depression and a rather morbid outlook religiously, in horoscopes having this star strong and harshly aspected. Such a condition does of itself make for all manner of problems, psychological and physical, eyesight included. There is often that feeling of negative ‘fear of God’, rather than comfort from the sensing of His Presence, the feeling that He is Omnipotent in such a way that the individual’s life is of no concern to Him, so that we are hopelessly doomed. The classic novel The day of the Triffids, with its fear of extinction of humanity by mere plants, conveys the negative associations of this nebula perfectly. But well aspected, the Trifid, or Spiculum, shows just the opposite in the person. There can be a very real feel of companionship with the entire Universe and its Creator and remarkable ability to plunge deeply into the seas of philosophy and come up with joyous and meaningful answers through a very happy intuition. [2]

Fixed star Spiculum rules the middle of the left thigh. [3]

Constellation Sagittarius

The following are Ptolemy’s remarks: “The stars at the point of the arrow in Sagittarius have influence similar to that of Mars and the Moon: those on the bow, and at the grasp of the hand, act like Jupiter and Mars . . . those in the waist and in the back resemble Jupiter, and also Mercury moderately: those in the feet, Jupiter and Saturn.” … By the Kabalists Sagittarius is associated with the Hebrew letter Vau and the 6th Tarot Trump “The Lovers.” [1]

Sagittarius was the House of Jupiter, that planet having appeared here at the Creation, although this honor was shared by Aquarius and Leo. Nor did Jupiter monopolize its possession, for it also was the domicile of Diana. Thus the constellation was known as Dianae Sidus. It inclined to fruitfulness, a character assigned to it as far back as the Babylonian inscriptions; and was a fortunate sign. Yellow was the color attributed to it, or the peculiar green sanguine. Descendant conjunct Spiculum:

Part of Fortune conjunct Spiculum: James Dean 0°47′

Sun conjunct Spiculum: This conjunction imparts to its natives the courage of their convictions, a certain amount of refinement, a liking for social events; the danger of self-destruction, eye problems and chronic, difficult-to-diagnose or possibly serious illness. [5]

Moon conjunct Spiculum: Generally, these natives develop great courage. Some may become obsessed with extremes in personal desires, which could develop into fetishes. An example could be the real or unreal fear of germs and constant hand washing. This might also exhibit itself as hoarding or greed. The native is aspiring and ambitious. Some are of an adventurous nature, treading where others fear to go, gambling that their plans, their actions, will come out o.k. These natives are also subject to drug addiction, which would amount to self-destruction or chronic, difficult-to-diagnose or possibly serious illness. Eye or ear problems might surface. [5]

Mercury conjunct Spiculum: Secret bad habits, a loner, sexual fantasies or problems, subject to violence or self-destruction. If Mercury is negative, mental disturbances and any kind of mind-altering substances would bring the worst to the forefront and take its toll. [5]

Richard Nixon 0°10′, Emmanuel Macron 0°53′.

Venus conjunct Spiculum: Secret bad habits, a loner, sexual fantasies or problems, subject to violence or self-destruction. A cold, detached, unfeeling, unemotional personality. However, can appear outwardly to be very sociable and agreeable, with the possibility of a tendency to overreact to situations. [5]

Similar to Venus at Sinistra. This is not a health problem, but it is concerned with the joviality of a person. It is the jovial type individual who overindulges in many things. They would be considered the happy-go-lucky person who does not particularly care what others think or say about them. They do not care what type of situation they are in. They are plain, simple and happy type beings who are very uncomplicated. They would just as likely sit in a pigsty to eat their dinner with their dog out of the same plate. They prefer to eat in a slovenly manner that others find totally unacceptable. Karmically, these individuals were tied to strict social circumstances in a prior life and were now given this break in order to fully relax from social amenities in this life. These persons are likable beings, but others are unable to take them to any social events as it would prove to be quite embarrassing. [3]

Joseph Stalin 0°54′.

Mars conjunct Spiculum: Secret bad habits, a loner, sexual fantasies or problems, subject to violence or self-destruction. Can be heroic, courageous, and even defiant but with a tendency to be reckless, thoughtless, inconsiderate and even accident-prone. [5]

This causes difficulties with the bones and tendons of the left thigh so that the muscles and tendons detach from the thigh bone. This imbalance is not understood by these individuals even though they experience sharp pains at the thigh. There would be added difficulties when the planet Jupiter is transiting this position as it would increase the heat effect of Mars, and the pain would affect a wider area. This difficulty will increase or decrease depending on the planets transiting this point. This does not incapacitate these persons. They like to engage in physical sports as their energy is directed to this area in spite of any pain they suffer at that part of the body. Relief is possible by placing the hands on the thigh for fifteen minutes prior to bedtime. The hands should not be rubbed but only the hands placed on the thigh. A cool, wet towel will help to calm the muscle in this area. [3]

Richard Nixon 0°05′, Steven Spielberg 0°49′

Jupiter conjunct Spiculum: Charles III 0°27′, Diego Maradona 0°28′, Nicholas Culpeper 0°42′, Richard Ramirez 0°48′

Saturn conjunct Spiculum: Similar to Saturn at Sinistra. This is a restriction of happiness. It is the opposite of Venus at this degree. These persons are usually very serious beings and experience difficult personal problems. They are very structured and self-righteous, but not from a religious standpoint. They are simply very serious with anything they attempt. There is no laughter in their system. Seriousness extends to the simple task of preparing a small meal. Others who try to be jovial around these individuals are doomed to failure as those with this planetary position cannot feel a sense of joviality within themselves. There is no serious health problem here except that they do have weak thighs and therefore do not go into any type of sports but stay at home and ponder over the serious situations manifesting around the world. 1. Hi Jamie,
Again you have covered a star i did not know was impacting my GCross. It sits minutes away from my IC and 3+ from my Sun, opposing MC/Uranus within minutes.I can attest to these effects described here without a doubt, regardless of the degrees. That may be due to the strident chart,i’m not sure.

Most specifically the religious angle.I’ll not rest till those structures and paradigms are superseded and evolved .The positive reversal effects are now felt at this stage in my life with the work accomplished and an improved progressed chart and surviving to this point after Pluto conjuncted Sun & cross.I thought Scheat on my Moon was heavy enough! Yes,’darkstar’ astrology suits me.Fears to rise above….and new power to claim.

    • actually my eyes passed number 1 when I was 6 years old, now I think that everyone around me, including number 5 and my sisters, has a problem as a woman, I don’t know maybe it’s just me, I hope otherwise this fixed will fuck me

  2. This star, Jamie, is conj my Neptune. Now I get why I like your site so much: Your POF is bringing me much joy and opening my perceptions for other dimensions! 🙂 You are GREAT!
