Colonel Gaddafi
Libyan leader Colonel Gaddafi has ruled for over 40 years. He is a military man, having been schooled at military college in Libya, then furthering his training at the Hellenic Military Academy in Athens. In 1967 at the age of 27, he led a bloodless coup against the monarchy in Libya, and has ruled ever since. Another post looks at the Libyan Horoscope.
We have no time of birth for Gaddafi but using the noon chart there is still enough to describe his nature, especially his reputation for oppression and cruelty. First up, the Sun is on the fixed star Rigel in constellation Orion. Orion is the Hunter, and it gives a strong and dignified nature, self-confidence, inconstancy, arrogance and violence, but danger of treachery. The star Rigel with his Sun causes courage, insolence, unruly temper, hasty actions, bloodshed, many enemies, fortune and military success [1].
Ebertin has found that the Sun on Rigel will give a quick rise in life because of the strong, inherent will power, love of action and luck. Also that there is a continuous battle to maintain the high position, and this battle increases the vigor. However, Ebertin also discovered that people with Rigel on their Sun canl face failure, disappointment and fall from success if they do not show caution, or if they have an attack of weakness [2].
Gaddafi’s Sun is now being aspected by the Jupiter Saturn opposition, Jupiter sextile his Sun, and Saturn trine his Sun. This does not suggest an attack of weakness, and Saturn trining the Sun does not indicate lack of caution. However Jupiter sextile the Sun could lead to an increase in the violence an over-kill, and the lack of caution. Jupiter opposite Saturn here indicates a major turning point in the global cultural, political and economic situation.
The violence nature of Gaddafi is further explained by having Mercury on the fixed star Al Hecka, in the Horns of the Bull. The star is known for male violence, and with Mercury gives a hasty temper, selfishness, greed and loss of wealth [1].
Mars is the planet of war and violence, and Gaddafi has Mars on a star called Procyon. Robson says this star gives “sudden and violent malevolence, sudden preferment by exertion, elevation ending in disaster” and with Mars “Cruelty, violence, scandal and slander, disgrace and ruin” [1].
Interesting, Gaddafi has a very strong Lilith placement, with the dark feminine laying between his Sun and Mercury. His Lilith is also on the female warrior star, Bellatrix in constellation Orion. Gaddafi has an elite private body guard made up entierley of women. They are hand picked by Gaddafi, all virgins and forty in number. They are called the Amazonian Guard. Bellatrix is also called the Amazon Star, because of the link to the ancient nation of all-female warriors, the Amazons.
The December Lunar Eclipse was right on Gaddafi’s Jupiter which on it’s own would sound favorable. However both Uranus and the Lunar Nodes are square his Jupiter at the moment, and will be for a few weeks. This has triggered his downfall, as Gaddafi has Jupiter on the fixed star Menkalinan, which Robson says causes “ruin, disgrace, and frequently violent death” [1].

Lucy thanks for great commentary. The focus with Uranus Square Pluto brings up the 1930s. Of course we go to Hitler but there was also Mussolini and Togo and not in the least “Uncle Joe” as FDR would say. Hitler did himself in and that does not fit Gaddafi. The mounting disgust can very well lead to a Mussolini type ending as you point to. For me an excellent perceptive comment.
But he brings it on himself which is self-destructive.. this is so harsh.. but if we see cosmic forces (planets) like Pluto pressing for purification and Uranus pressing for liberation woe to those who resist. Yep, there are similarities now to the late 1930’s. Economic troubles, civil unrest because of high food prices and lack of jobs. At the moment these Plutonian dictators are being swept away, but that does leave room for someone else to fill the void. Or maybe we have evolved a bit further and won’t let that happen again.

The “Plutonian dictators” are not just in the political arena. I use the term “reactionaries” because change in relationships is also change in the corporate structure not just in government. But ultimately there is the need to stand on democratic principles and hopefully these will prevail but more than likely it’ll get messy.

Attending such workshops on the school was almost as grusome as your chart analysis for the German Führer…and we can always discuss if evil exists and what it is. But it is beyond doubt that Gaddaffi has a contract (Jupiter) with Evil (conj. Lucifer, Merc, BML). Such contracts cannot be released till evil itself no longer exists (says jwg)

Well, we all have Lucifer somewhere in our charts. Mine is conjunct Merc in Aq, so can’t help contributing one last bit to this thread: that the placement of Lucifer in the birth chart shows the area where “Evil” will strike..the place where we are most vulnerable.

Do not know that much astrology but enjoy reading this site. Sociologically/politically speaking I thought he was “whacky” years ago. Now he seems to be on his way to suicide or self destruction. Glad to see there are signs in the heavens that point to this type of behavior and rulership. Maybe this is a relatively advantageous way to avoid such leadership in the future? Afterall, starting with Pluto in Capricorn there seems to be a cosmic push to reorganize the way we live on this planet in a more collaborative fashion, yes?

There is truth in what you say. Similar in a way to the backing of Mubarak in Egypt by the West. In recent years Gaddafi has given stability to the region, particularly to the flow of oil.

Marina I don’t think Angelina Jolie is evil. She has a clear vision but it sounds too much chauvinistic to put a label on her like that now. She seems to be reacting to lack of love from her father and she had her drug and fall period already. This is a powerful inner struggle and she is leading a big challenge to “usual” concepts of family. And when she plays a strong female equal to any male you can believe it. I think she is very powerful and hope she can maintain the high road she aspires to.
You know all too well that a lot of the myth and explanations about Lilith were written by males during the emerging and peaking of chauvinism. This is a big change period going on for decades so why not forge a road to reinterpret a strong female role in a more positive slant.

Lots of people don’t know their time of birth and we can still look at their noon horoscope to get lots of information. The only thing we lack is the SC, MC and exact Moon degree, which are very important, but as you can see with the Gaddafi horoscope, there is a lot to learn about him from the Sun and other planets.
There’s quite a few dates out there for Gadhafi’s birth.
He was born in a tribal area where births weren’t recorded and filed.
The little I know about him I would say that he would keep any and all personal information as private as possible.
I am curious if he has ever used an astrologer or has an interest in oracles.
An example of information available for Gadhafi’s birth, what is agreed upon in most articles is that it took place sometime in 1942 and others mention 1943 as a possibilty.

for now i’m going w/ the 6/7. 6/19 has cancer/jupiter and I can’t imagine that placement w/ 50 female body guards! jupiter/cancer is conservative, generous, humaine, loves scholarship and history. Might be better to let the Libyans themselves take care of Gaddafi, I think that would be good for them, to know they claimed their freedom on all by themselves.
Lucy excuse me but retributive punishment is not a reason for the US to send troops. But it is every reason for a wide coalition of forces within Libya to join up and take this guy down and out. This is more “reasonable” proposition. The US for some big reasons cannot take action at this point in time. Watch Iran. I put reasonable in quotes because when force is used reason has been put aside. Sometimes necessary but using force, for me, creates more of a no win situation at best.
But my very traditional point is that Freedom needs to be won and for meaningfulness and sense of self-growth cannot be given.
I read from a holy man once about giving alms to the poor. The answer was it could be good for the giver depending on his/her level of understanding but not so good for the receiver! Libyans can use support as they have apparently no way to express opinions and have been oppressed from developing opposition. But knowing human spirit that spirit just needs some pathways to develop because life always asserts itself- people think and feel and have to find self-expression. There will be a “flowering” in the future here, if not, then what they have is not what they will need and more difficulties will resume. In less abstract language, they will gain some sort of democratic government or the “new bosses” will meet with opposition of a very strong type. Maybe this is the Plutonian vs. the Uranium forces. I’ll take Uranus as Pluto’s reactionary aspect as is usually described is more displaying the nature and structure of the reaction and thus exposing it-get it- exposing it and when something is exposed it is vulnerable.

Sidi I appreciate your sentiment. Jamie good for you that this was published. While we focus on the contention of cosmic forces what Sidi relates to us is what is happening in human terms. Already noted is the “superpower” effect on Africa and the Mid-East in Jamie’s writing on Iraq. This is what I’m looking for in the stars to see if the cosmic forces are lining up to push for a dramatic shift in human relationships. Just how much and on what level will this manifest! The core of this shift has to come from women socially/politically and not just Islamic feminist but from truly libertarian/democratic values to be claimed by all of us because these cosmic forces seem to be indicating the birth pains of a new era. Again the “traditional” West indicates itself to have such a dramatic contradiction between its political theory and its political practice. Sidi; what happens in top down leadership, ditatorships, monarchies, after years of the leader handing out favors to loyal supportive citizens feelings of jelousy and frustration bubble to the surface from unemployed and unrepresented Libyians.
It seems Gadaffi trusted foreign workers more than his own people and lost touch with a new population of internet users who see freedom elsewhere and are frustrated at not being able to vote, have meaningful employment and be part of the political process.
This is an important point about the internet generation and wanting freedom. These revolutions in the Arab countries have been strengthened every time a regime blocks internet access. It just fires people up more. There is a lesson here for China, it may take a lot longer for unrest to build there, but it will happen if the government does’t allow more freedoms and especially if they keep censoring the interent.
I donot think this will end well. March Astrology sees even greater forces in conflict round a weak piscean sun. Egypt too. Gadaffi’s energy is terrible, he knows it’s lost.

Lucy this can’t end well even if Gadaffi is removed from the picture. But my feeling about the U.S. not being able to intervene and agreeing with you on more likely that Europe will take action pushed me to look at this from a higher perspective i.e. stratosphere. Exactly! We need to return to the Source and to the understanding we had in the first cycle of time – the Satya Yuga or Golden Age. Somewhere inside us all, we do remember such a time – just as we all remember a Dissolution and the terrible destructiive upheavals that come. All our memories of all the cycles of time are encoded within. The entire universe resides within each of us.
Once you feel and Know and Become the Source, the Oneness – that is also in every man, woman and child, and everything in this universe – how can you harm another? Hurting another is the same as hurting your own self. The world would be a very different place and we would move out of the Kali Yuga and into another Golden Age/Satya Yuga.
