Sagittarius Constellation [Stellarium]

Epsilon Sagittarii, Kaus Australis, is an orange and bluish star on the lower part of the Bow of the Archer, constellation Sagittarius.

ε Sgr is officially named Kaus Australis, from the Arabic/Latin al‑qaws / australis, “the southern part of the bow.” [SkyEye: (Un)Common Star Names – Official Names.]
Arbitrarily applied in recent times, together with the Latin distinctions of “middle” (for δ), “southern”(for ε), and “northern” (for λ), from the indigenous Arabic (and later modern Arabic) constellation name al-qaus, “the Bow.”
For the indigenous Arabs, al-qaus was marked by the curved line of stars ξ², ο, π, d, ρ, and υ Sgr (corresponding to what in other cultures was Sagittarius among the zodiacal signs). The modern Arabs used the indigenous name for the Greeks’ Archer, alternatively translated as al rāmī. [A Dictionary of Modern Star Names, Kunitzch, Smart, 2006, p.51]

ε Sgr is Thalath al Waridah, Tertia τού al Warida, “third going ostrich.” [On a Catalogue of Stars in the Calendarium of Mohammad Al Achasi Al Mouakket, E. B. Knobel, 1895, p.430-435.]

ε Sgr belongs to the Chinese asterism , “Winnowing Basket,” representing “Azure Dragon’s dung, the role of rice bran to farm implements, also means the wind.” It has the traditional name Jīsùsān, “3rd star of Winnowing Basket.” Sagittarius in Chinese astronomy – Wikipedia.

“Quiet in nature with its Venus spectra. Associated with the Goddess Istar.” [Fixed Stars and Judicial Astrology, George Noonan, 1990, p.36.]
