Fixed star Vertex, M31 Andromeda Galaxy, is a 3.4 magnitude spiral galaxy situated on the thigh of the Chained Woman, Andromeda Constellation. It is the nearest major galaxy to the Milky Way and is approaching us at over 100 kilometers per second. It is expected to directly collide with the Milky Way in about 4 billion years. The fate of the Earth and the Solar System from the Andromeda–Milky Way collision is currently unknown. [1]

Vertex Star Astrology

Ptolemy classed it malefically as a Mars-Moon type, about as bad as it can be! Someone has unfortunately given it the name Vertex, which is used for a quite different kind of item in astrology, so it is better to call it Great Galaxy or Andromeda Galaxy. It really is one of the most potent Signs in this part of the sky, revealing to us, if well aspected, the person who has great gifts for treating sickness of neurosis, psychosis or obsession; otherwise it shows up just as the people suffering most from those very Mars-Moon problems deep within them from the past, personal or collective. [2]

Vertex star rules slightly to the back of the crown of the head in the human body. [3]

Andromeda GalaxyConstellation Andromeda

Andromeda has an influence similar to that of Venus according to Ptolemy, though the legend would lead one to suppose some connection with Virgo. It is said to bestow purity of thought, virtue, honor and dignity upon its natives, but to cause battle with chimerical fears and a tendency to become easily discouraged. It gives love between husband and wife and reconciles adulterers. If Mars afflicts the luminaries from Andromeda and especially if in an angle, it causes death by hanging, decapitation, crucifixion or impalement. [4]

It is a generally favorable constellation denoting that which is honorable and eminent. Badly placed, however, it can portend earthquakes, and in the Middle Ages was said that Mars in this constellation in aspect with the Sun caused death by crucifixion or hanging. [5]

15th Chinese Lunar Mansion – 奎 (Kuí) Legs

Represents a man with his legs astride. This was said to be the arsenal of the Emperor. Wash old clothes and double the thickness of the quilting to protect against winter. Avoid construction work so riches do not leave the household. Digging would be followed by a series of misfortunes.

There is a likelihood of family quarrels and discord among acquaintances. Lawsuits are lost. Sickness takes a firm grip. This mansion rules arms, preparation for military action, canals, garments, footwear, textiles industry, and laundry.

    • I would think you would have a talent for healing others psychologically, especially through occult methods like astrology and Tarot.

  1. I have this star conjunct my Sun at 28 degrees (38 min) in Aries. Is this a beneficial influence? thnx

    • Yes, I think a good influence because the next star Alrisha has a unifying influence. But Vertex can go either way, so it may depend on any natal aspects to your Sun.

  2. I have Mars conjunct Vertex? It is Natal in my chart : /

    Mars conjunct Pluto ….

    With south node conjunct both.

    warrior/survivor mindset.

I do have to be careful with my eyes though, too much screen time 🙂

  3. Conjunct my H10 natal ceres/juno at 28 & 29dgs Aries..my prog Moon is on top of this too ryt now..also trines my prog Sun in Leo trines transiting Saturn..my ceres/juno is well known to be a widowed single solo and self sufficient Mum to my 4 children. But also too that my late husband (their Dad) decapitated himself through hanging.Since studying astrology (last 7yrs) & becoming aware of these aspects in my chart I have helped/showed many others to release the burden of the psychological impact that suicide imparts. My Mars is in Cancer 21dgs H2 cusp..Moon/Mars is a theme which runs through my chart.

  4. I have vertex conjunct my Saturn which affected a generation of friends who many fought in Vietnam and didn’t survive the war.

  5. Ridiculus to emphasize this devastating message. My progressed vertes is conjunct mars, exact degree. Im currently undergoing a great healing, physically and psychologically – and my eyes have been very bad the last seven years. Now they are tingling and getting better, because of this transformation – opening up to the infinite help from the universe. Om ah hung <3

  7. Please could someone guide me on this as I am worried by this aspect. I am an aries with gemini rising18 April 1970 0730am GMT 1W50 22N 30. Please could you enlighten me on any aspect

  8. I haven’t read this whole post, so I am just responding to someone out there being confused and worried about whatever astrological information they have read. I have been a self-taught student of astrology for about 35 years now and I care deeply for all. Astrology, or anything you are reading or told or learning, etc. should never leave you feeling fear or any other negative emotion. If it does, simply drop it! Take what is good, what feels alright to you, and leave the rest! I use astrology to help me understand people icluding myself, basic natal astrology, and I don’t really mess with transits and other ideas… Just the planets, the signs and the houses, I find essential, and they could serve anyone as a genuinely good guide. Just my opinions here :).
P.S. An Aries Sun/Gemini Rising would be an independent thinker who meets the world of information with great curiosity, yet needs no guide, and neither would they ever worry about it anyway! KNOW THYSELF

    • Thank you Junemoonchild, you are right, I am an independent thinker, too much sometimes! but I would want to know if there was something adverse in my chart to look out for and I was hoping to get to know more about my chart rather thank just think what is it? The worrying aspect is this article opens with Ptolemy classed it malefically as a Mars-Moon type, about as bad as it can be! so naturally I wanted to know more.

  9. Your welcome. Trust me, I know about wanting to know about everything! Curiosity is healthy and learning is always a worthwhile experience. I really meant to say that I found I had to be careful, especially with all the information available nowadays, about what lines of study/topics/ideas, I chose to follow… “Discernment” might be an appropriate word. If something doesn’t feel good or right to me, or causes me too concern for what it’s worth, I try to move on to something else.
As far as Astrology goes, there is so much in your chart that you can understand clearly, and it may not even be helpful to speculate upon, or search to know about, this or that adverse thing in it. If you knew, what would you do? If you didn’t know, how would you feel?
P.S. Look up Ptolemy on Wikipedia, and you’ll see that most of the Astrology written during his time (besides being very archaic) was mostly negative, much darker in interepretation than it is today.
I appreciate your interest in Astrology, and I hope you find it helpful in your life, for yourself, and in your relationships with others! Also, you might like to check out the website for “Clairvision Virtual Astrologer”.

  10. This is an interesting article I have Vertex conjunct my Sun ( 29 degree ) too. Also I have a moon(caripricon 5.60 değere ) and mars (Aries 8 degree ) square in my natal chart and my north node is Virgo. Although I’m very south node oriented with Venus and ascended in pieces. Over the years and certainly after I have learned little bit of astrology,I understood how to cope with my moon and mars aspect when my mind and desires not on the same page. I have to say since 2010 I had this battle in my head about a certain person and only now I understood the facts about why I lived this dilemma. So grateful that I have listened my moon more then my mars. I have grown for sure but also changed with the help from Uranus.
