The Sun joins Vertex on April 17

Fixed star Vertex, M31 Andromeda Galaxy, is a 3.4 magnitude spiral galaxy situated on the thigh of the Chained Woman, Andromeda Constellation. It is the nearest major galaxy to the Milky Way and is approaching us at over 100 kilometers per second. It is expected to directly collide with the Milky Way in about 4 billion years. The fate of the Earth and the Solar System from the Andromeda–Milky Way collision is currently unknown. [1]

Vertex Star Astrology

Ptolemy classed it malefically as a Mars-Moon type, about as bad as it can be! Someone has unfortunately given it the name Vertex, which is used for a quite different kind of item in astrology, so it is better to call it Great Galaxy or Andromeda Galaxy. It really is one of the most potent Signs in this part of the sky, revealing to us, if well aspected, the person who has great gifts for treating sickness of neurosis, psychosis or obsession; otherwise it shows up just as the people suffering most from those very Mars-Moon problems deep within them from the past, personal or collective. [2]

Vertex star rules slightly to the back of the crown of the head in the human body. [3]

Andromeda GalaxyConstellation Andromeda has an influence similar to that of Venus according to Ptolemy, though the legend would lead one to suppose some connection with Virgo. It is said to bestow purity of thought, virtue, honor and dignity upon its natives, but to cause battle with chimerical fears and a tendency to become easily discouraged. It gives love between husband and wife and reconciles adulterers. If Mars afflicts the luminaries from Andromeda and especially if in an angle, it causes death by hanging, decapitation, crucifixion or impalement. [4]

It is a generally favorable constellation denoting that which is honorable and eminent. Badly placed, however, it can portend earthquakes, and in the Middle Ages was said that Mars in this constellation in aspect with the Sun caused death by crucifixion or hanging. [5]

  1. Your welcome. Trust me, I know about wanting to know about everything! Curiosity is healthy and learning is always a worthwhile experience. I really meant to say that I found I had to be careful, especially with all the information available nowadays, about what lines of study/topics/ideas, I chose to follow… “Discernment” might be an appropriate word. If something doesn’t feel good or right to me, or causes me too concern for what it’s worth, I try to move on to something else.
As far as Astrology goes, there is so much in your chart that you can understand clearly, and it may not even be helpful to speculate upon, or search to know about, this or that adverse thing in it. If you knew, what would you do? If you didn’t know, how would you feel?
P.S. Look up Ptolemy on Wikipedia, and you’ll see that most of the Astrology written during his time (besides being very archaic) was mostly negative, much darker in interepretation than it is today.
I appreciate your interest in Astrology, and I hope you find it helpful in your life, for yourself, and in your relationships with others! Also, you might like to check out the website for “Clairvision Virtual Astrologer”.

  2. This is an interesting article I have Vertex conjunct my Sun ( 29 degree ) too. Also I have a moon(caripricon 5.60 değere ) and mars (Aries 8 degree ) square in my natal chart and my north node is Virgo. Although I’m very south node oriented with Venus and ascended in pieces. Over the years and certainly after I have learned little bit of astrology,I understood how to cope with my moon and mars aspect when my mind and desires not on the same page. I have to say since 2010 I had this battle in my head about a certain person and only now I understood the facts about why I lived this dilemma. So grateful that I have listened my moon more then my mars. I have grown for sure but also changed with the help from Uranus.
