Sun Trine Saturn Natal

Sun trine Saturn in the natal chart makes people serious and reserved with the ability to achieve recognition due to the good work ethic that comes from this aspect. It gives methodical planning and discipline and may indicate assistance from those in authority and especially the father when young.

However as the trine aspect represents ease and favor, these benefits may sometimes come too easily resulting in a lack of appreciation and abuse of any authority than comes with that extra responsibility.

Sun Trine Saturn Celebrities

Leonardo DiCaprio (08′) had great assistance from both of his parents who jointly managed his early career in film even they divorced when he was a baby. The recognition of achievement which comes from Sun trine Saturn climaxed around his Saturn return when he was awarded a Lifetime Achievement award at the Santa Barbara International Film Festival. Astrologer Jeff Green (60′) displays the teacher archetype of Saturn, founding the School of Evolutionary Astrology, authoring acclaimed books, counselling thousands of students, and lecturing all around the world.

Joran van der Sloot (48′)  had and still does have the strong support of his father. It was financial backing from his father that allowed his business ventures and financial freedom to act the international playboy, and his father was even arrested for conspiring in one of the alleged murders committed by Joran. As a youth, Jim Jones (47′) was noted for his strong sense of discipline. He gained great recognition and authority due to his power of persuasion and ability to build the self-esteem of his followers. Of course he abused his leadership role, leading  almost 1000 people to mass suicide in Georgetown, Guyana in 1978. Others with Sun trine Saturn include Aleister Crowley (17′) and Andy Warhol (66′).

  1. Yes, definitley see the father/son/fortunes relationship in this aspect, but, between this son and his dad its a “Parents/Kids, who’d have ‘em” kinda thing, said with a mutual smirk (plenty of dry humour) – also, ‘fighting my quarter’ theme….erk, gurn…esp around finance, tho dad has been very supportive in recent years. Tend to keep parents at arms length…..

Have Sun conj Venus trine Saturn rx (Aries & Sag) + Saturn opp Mars (Gemini) and Saturn sext Chiron sext Sun – I was a very naughty kid, always getting into scrapes and loving it!

Don’t you think aspects can ‘mature’ tho (said hopefully) – guess in this respect key words would be ‘INTENSITY and focus’ …..these days like to see Saturn as alchemist regulating inner fire – figured the lesson is; learning how to transmute (humungus) ego & use it creatively with feeling! – school of hard knocks, but, has come in very handy in healing/creative work.

Finding Saturn (1st ho) can also have more lens than conservative effect on upside + intensity is focused into endless stamina, unless loony humour sets in (Cancer Moon) in which case falls about laughing

There is a twist….father’s Moon is at action point of yod in his chart formed with his Saturn sext Sun and his Moon is conj. my Sun/Venus! We have our flash points (understatement) and, although our work ethic is similar, has taken years of face-offs to reach maturing into mutual appreciation and revealing great love (comrades-in-arms in Life kinda thing esp when I became a dad) – but, MAN, are we different people, aspire to total opposites

….Guess its all in that Saturn Sun aspect…..somehow

    thanks Jamie & Marina

    • I have practically memorized Liz Greene’s book on Saturn. She claims no contact to Saturn is easy – even the so called easy aspects – such as the trine. I have a sun saturn trine but no early support from father – but we shared a birthday There was little communication between us and he died when I was 23 so no chance of ever really understanding him as an adult. I think the fact that my moon is conjunct saturn trumps the saturn moon trine and the father influence. My mother was more of a father in many way.

    • just saw something else – I am curious about your father’s moon conjunct your sun. Is this the flash point? My Cancer/Gemini ex’s moon was conjunct my sun in Aries by one degree. We were so connected in this weird role reversal way (me being in a traditional male supporter role and he being an at-home mom/dad – and talk about flash points – holy cow!

  2. My saturn is in pisces 12th house trine my sun in scorpio 7th. Im only 17 but so far in my life my father hasnt proven to be helpful in anyway towards me, so i dont understand how this aspect is working in my chart. In fact hes a bit of a burden becausw hes ill and financially unstable, which makes sense that my saturn is in pisces 12th house. But i domt understand how the trine is working in my chart. I also have saturn square jupiter in sag if that helps

  3. I can’t tell you how disappointing this is…..I have sun trine saturn, and had a father who molested me, treated me horribly, and by the time I was 18, i was forced to leave, because even my own mother didn’t believe me. I had to put myself through college, and spent six years in a two year college. I had a very cruel father and emotionally vacant mother. However, I did marry at 25 years old to a man who was 57 and I have been married for 33 years to the most amazing man, ever. I would not be the woman I am today had it not been for him coming into my life and giving me the love and support I needed in order to blossom. Perhaps that’s where the Sun/Saturn trine has manifested itself? He has truly given me everything I could have ever wanted or needed in life. I honor him with all my heart.

    • Thanks so much for sharing your story Ellowyn. It does sound like the good side of this aspect did take a while to manifest. Just out of interest, is Saturn retrograde in your chart?

    • Wow that is so beautiful to hear. Glad to hear you found a wonderful man. I have a sun trine saturn but also mars opposition saturn and I am Aries Sun with Capricorn Ascendant so yeah. My mother was and is an utter sadist (and severely abused me including cigarette burns and worse from the time I was a baby – I still have the scars) and my father often would do what pleased her so… I got married very young (to escape) but I divorced him (he was never at home) and have been alone for 30 years. Very tough life.

      • I’m learning to realize the past can’t color my future, no matter what is before me. I er to choose each day how to frame it. Nobody has that kind of control but me. I’m touched by your life story Abby. My mother abandoned me when i was 20….she was an ice queen and cruel woman. Those who suffer also become the best teachers and helpers to others. Ths is what I try to do now. The more I give love freely, the more I get which is healing.

        • Thank you Ellowyn, I hear you and I’m very sorry to hear your mum was an ice queen and abandoned you. Yes I am a spiritual sensitive and counseller and that is my natural drive. They say that it isn’t just our experiences but actually a development that occurs in kids who were abused i.e. they develop a sense of what is in people and can read them extremely well – which may well develop because our lives depended on it. Still, nothing helped me and I could only ‘watch’ the abuse so it has taken a long, long time to heal. That’s the other point I wanted to make. Sometimes ‘a decision’ to control our own lives cannot be done before the healing. That would require a long discussion but it’s true. Healing but terrible abuse can take a long long time if you don’t have a counsellor who knows the path and the likely blocks. Thanks for replying. Really appreciate it. :-)

          • Oh so true! I’m 58 and it’s taken me decades of peeling off the traumas (years of triggering) for me to actually be able to chose, clearly, that I can control how I react/respond. My email is lindy716@gmail.com if u would like to stay in touch! I was paralyzed for so many decades.

    • Yes, Saturn was actually stationary when you were born, and started moving direct 3 days after you were born. This will have had some negative impact on the relationship with your father, especially when very young.

  4. Ha! I guess I just couldn’t wait another 3 days, lol….! I also have sun square Neptune in th 4th house….so it’s my blueprint, I created it, but it wasn’t a loving life, that is up until I met my husband and hen everything changed. We both have Venus/Pluto conjunct in the exact degree, to each other, meaning my Venus also conjuncts his Pluto in exact degree. When we met we go married in 24 hours. 33 years we’ve been married. Thank you for your kind interest and reply. :)

    • You’re welcome, I really appreciate comments on the aspects because it makes these pages more valuable for other people into the future. I will be writing about Sun square Neptune soon because of an upcoming moon phase.
