Qifu the House for Musical Instruments

22♎12 to 12♏30

Ma Duanlin (1317)

The thirty-two stars south of Zhen are called Qifu, which governs musical instruments. Their brightness indicates the proper functioning of musical instruments; their darkness indicates misfortune. [2]

Song History (1346)

The Qifu (Repository of Musical Instruments) consists of thirty-two stars located south of the Zhen Mansion; it represents the storehouse for musical instruments. When these stars shine brightly, the eight categories of musical sounds are in harmony, and the relationship between ruler and ministers is balanced; if they are dim, the opposite occurs. Should a guest star or a comet encroach upon this asterism, officials in charge of music will face execution. If a red cloud or vapor obscures it, the performance of music throughout the realm will cease. [3]
