Venus Square Neptune Natal and Transit

Venus Square Neptune TransitVenus square Neptune natal creates difficulties with how you love yourself and how you love others. Without corrective action, this can lead to low self-esteem and disappointment in love. Loving yourself is essential to having healthy and loving relationships. Therefore, learning to love yourself is vital in addressing this challenging aspect.

It is common with this aspect to feel unloved, unlovable, victimized, and even ostracized. You may feel that you are too different or strange in the eyes of others, and not accepted by the ‘in-crowd’. It is important to realize that what you feel others think of you may not actually be true. If there were any truth to this perception, then it would be in large part due to the signals you are sending out about yourself.

Once you come to the realization that Neptune is distorting your self-image, you can get to work on improving how you feel about yourself. As Neptune rules mirrors, film and screens, a great way to improve self-love is to repeat positive affirmations in the mirror. As Venus rules beauty, it can be worthwhile spending time enhancing your appearance through cosmetics and fashion. Show off to yourself in front of the mirror, or take selfies, even video yourself and see how beautiful you really are. Dance around a bit, be sexy and strip off even, No one has to see… not if you don’t want them to.

Once you really love yourself inside and out, then you will find that your love life and other areas of life will improve. However, it is also possible that Neptune may distort your appreciation of other people. There would be a tendency to over-idealize romantic partners, being blind to their faults. This would leave you susceptible to major disappointment, being taken advantage of or being someone’s doormat, or even their sex slave.

Another major danger of not addressing your self-image is that of self-abuse. The opposite of love is hate, and hating yourself would lead to a downward spiral of self-harm. This would include unhealthy eating, leading to either obesity or anorexia. Depression is a major reason for addiction to alcohol and other poisonous drugs or medications.

Venus Square Neptune Transit

Venus square Neptune transit can lead to feelings of insecurity about yourself and how you look. It is possible that you will feel that others are looking at you oddly or think you are strange in some way. It is important to realize that any such impressions are distorted and do not match reality. A poor self-image at this time can lead to relationship difficulties. You can also experience disappointment in your love life by forming a distorted image of someone else. There is a tendency to over-idealize romantic interests at this time, ignoring the obvious faults which are plain for others to see.

Both situations leave you susceptible to major disappointment, being taken advantage of or being someone’s doormat, or even their sex slave. This is very easy to deal with if you are in a healthy relationship due to mutual understanding and trust. Relationships on rocky grounds would be more problematic, and matters of trust may become an issue. Starting an affair at this time would prove difficult to hide.

Although your heightened need for tenderness and affection may lead to a new relationship at this time, you must stay conscious of the confusing Neptunian influence. It would be wiser to wait until after this transit before committing yourself or being too trusting of another person.

Poor self-esteem and lack of self-discipline make this a bad time for sticking to diets or for partying. You will be more susceptible to the depressive influence of alcohol and more susceptible to poisoning in general. Addiction is more likely if you were to dabble in drugs. Regular users should beware of overdose, infection, or being ripped off by dealers.

  1. “Once you come to the realization that Neptune is distorting your self-image, you can get to work on improving how you feel about yourself.” thank you Jamie! I have struggled with this aspect and the times that I’ve had success in overcoming it have been through doing mirror work. THANK YOU!
    Happy New Year.

      • Want to thank you too Jamie, I have this plus Venus is in my 12th H (!) and my Neptune is conj my Moon …. cue violins

Will be doing a bit of mirror work : ) just give it a quick clean first (Virgo Sun conj Pluto)

  2. I’m a Pisces Sun 10 degrees. I woke up this morning with a really deep feeling of sadness. NO CLUE where it came from! I didn’t even think to look at the aspects today. Just looked at them tonight and voila! Your explanation really shed some light on this one for me. Thanks Jamie!

  3. How can you have Venus trine Mars and Venus square Neptune at the same time? They are opposing…one says “love is great today” the other says ” your self love is terrible today”. How can they both be right?

  4. I once knew a man with venus in pisces square neptune, he had a blurred image of me, almost delusional, and instead of ‘sacrificing’ for me (which venus square neptune seem to suggest), he wanted me to sacrifice for him, to the point I just couldn’t take it any more and ran. He also had saturn and mars (but do not conjunct) in his 5th house.

  5. I really disagree with this interpretation of Venus Square Neptune. We have to stop always insisting that if people have difficulties in life that they are suffering from low self-esteem. It’s subversive and not accurate for everyone. Astrology is a science of energies, really. Sometimes, your energy is fine when you’re by yourself and fine with certain people, but not with others. That is a conflict of energies. We don’t live in a bubble; we act, interact and react to the energies that are all around us and sometimes, it is frustrating. I think a person with low self-esteem would not acknowledge that hurt and accept that their difficulties were deserved. Those of us who say, “Hey, there’s something wrong here and I don’t like it!” are not people with low self-esteem. Be careful buying into this script, it may not be for you.
