Tianhun the Celestial Pigsty
04♉40 to 12♉36
The character “溷” (hùn) refers to a pigsty or toilet. Its Middle Chinese pronunciation is ghuonh. [1]
The asterism Tianhun consists of 4 stars with 6 added. The ancient Chinese asterism consisted of 7 stars and lay north of the modern asterism.
Ma Duanlin (1317)
The seven stars south of Kui are known as Waiping (Outer Screen); they serve to shield the Tianhun (Celestial Latrine). Divinations regarding them are the same as those for Tianjun (Celestial Granary): If they are invisible, the populace will be unsettled, and the same applies if they appear to shift position. [2]
Song History (1346)
Tianhun (Celestial Latrine) consists of seven stars located outside the Southern Screen (Pingnan); it governs the celestial latrine—the place where pigs are kept—and is also known as the heavenly privy. If the stars appear dim, people will lack peace of mind; if the stars shift position, it portends misfortune. [3]
