Constellation Circinus The Compasses is a southern constellation bordering Centaurus, Lupus, Norma, Triangulum Australe, Apus and Musca. It was introduced by Nicolas-Louis de Lacaille in 1752 and remains one of the 88 modern constellations. Circinus spans 11 degrees of the zodiac in the Sign of Sagittarius.

Circinus, the Pair of Compasses,

formed by La Caille, lies close to the front feet of the Centaur, south from Lupus and Norma, its inventor appropriately associating it with the latter.

Gould catalogues in it 48 stars down to the 7th magnitude. ^[2]
