Zeta Andromedae, Shimu

Zeta Andromedae, Shimu [SIMBAD]

15th Chinese Lunar Mansion Kui (Legs)

Element Wood, planet Jupiter, animal Wolf, the deity of Kui holds the keys to balance in all things. It is very strong. Kui represents a man with his legs astride. This was said to be the Emperor’s arsenal. There are general admonishments to wash old clothes and to double the thickness of the quilting to protect against winter.
It was generally considered an unlucky day. No construction work on this day or riches would leave the household. Digging would be followed by a series of misfortunes. There is a likelihood of family quarrels and discord among acquaintances. Lawsuits are lost. Sickness takes a firm grip. Kui rules arms, preparation for military action, canals, garments, footwear, textiles industry, and laundry. [8]

Kui, also called Tian Shi, is the celestial treasury and arsenal and governs ditches and canals, as well as the use of military force to suppress violence.
“A sealed pig forms a ditch, irrigating the state and its cities and flooding empty valleys. Guests who stay overnight are covered in mud up to their bellies.”
In ancient astrology, fire and epidemics were controlled by this creature. The mythical pig was greedy and lived in marshes. “The Kui is the master of poisoning and killing all things.”
If Mars guards it, there will be worries about water, lasting for three consecutive years. [7]

Constellation Andromeda

ANDROMEDA. The Chained Woman.
Legend. Andromeda was the daughter of Cepheus, king of Æthiopeia, and Cassiopeia. In consequence of Cassiopeia’s boast that the beauty of Andromeda surpassed that of the Nereids, Neptune sent a sea monster (CETUS) to lay waste to the country, and promised deliverance only on condition that Andromeda were offered as a sacrifice to it. She was accordingly chained to a rock, but was discovered and released by Perseus, who, riding through the air on Pegasus, slew the monster by turning it to stone with the Medusa’s Head and claimed Andromeda as his bride.
Influence. According to Ptolemy the influence of this constellation is similar to that of Venus, though the legend would lead one to suppose some connection with Virgo. It is said to bestow purity of thought, virtue, honor and dignity upon its natives, but to cause battle with chimerical fears and a tendency to become easily discouraged. By the Kabalists it is associated with the Hebrew letter Pé and the 17th Tarot Trump, The Stars. If Mars afflicts the luminaries from Andromeda, and especially if in an angle, it causes death by hanging, decapitation, crucifixion or impalement.
Magical. Gives love between husband and wife and reconsiles adulterers. [5]

Tetrabiblos asserts that the bright stars of this constellation are of the nature of Venus, and so is its brightest star. It is a generally favorable constellation denoting that which is honorable and eminent. Poorly placed, however, it can portend earthquakes, and in the Middle Ages was said that Mars in this constellation, in aspect with the Sun, caused death by crucifixion or hanging. [9]
