The solar eclipse on September 13, 2015 at 20°10′ Virgo falls just within Virgo decan 3. The solar eclipse astrology does bring some pain and change, but the change is positive and heals the pain of a broken heart. One of the best things about this solar eclipse is that it brings to an end the extreme misfortune of the March 2015 solar eclipse phase.
The previous eclipse phase dealt with the radical upheaval of the long-running Uranus Pluto squares. We had to deal with a lot of negative karmic issues, much fear and inhibition. The September 13 solar eclipse is far less challenging and more future oriented. It presents a great opportunity to realize how relationships have gone bad and how to right the imbalances through positive change.
New Moon Solar Eclipse Meaning
Like any new moon, a solar eclipse represents the end of one cycle and the beginning of a new cycle. The strongest and most important aspect in all of astrology is the Sun conjunct Moon. It means that all possibilities are on the table and you can rightly put yourself in the forefront of new plans for the future.
Old habits, behaviors and beliefs can be questioned as you search for new and inventive ways to make progress. This is the ideal time to make a fresh start and start writing down a to-do list on a blank sheet of paper. The impulsive and enthusiastic nature of a solar eclipse means that not all new projects will succeed, however a solar eclipse in not only one point in time.
The horoscope for a new moon or solar eclipse is like a snap shot in time, but like old style photography, it takes time to develop. This solar eclipse will remain active until the next solar eclipse in March 2016. As the eclipse cycle progresses, planetary aspects to the eclipse degree will mark more active times when events relating to the eclipse will likely unfold. There are four very promising planetary conjunctions to the eclipse degree of 20°10′ Virgo in this eclipse phase.
Mars passes over the solar eclipse degree on October 27. Venus passes over on October 29/30. The Venus Mars alignment is exact on November 2. This week or so will be critical for realizing the root causes of any love relationships issues in relation to the solar eclipse themes. Jupiter hits the eclipse degree on November 23 then again in retrograde motion on February 22, 2016. These two periods should be times of happiness and growth in love relationships. The final pass of Jupiter comes after this eclipse phase on July 21, 2016. However, it will still be important, perhaps a time of culmination for relationships.
Solar Eclipse September 2015 Astrology
On first glance, the astrology of the September 17 solar eclipse looks fairly challenging. Lots of red lines in the chart below suggest stress and conflict. But when we delve a little deeper we find that these stressful aspects lead into very promising ones.
The same can be for the star with which this solar eclipse aligns. At 21°49′ Virgo is the fixed star Denebola, in the Tail of Leo the Lion. According to tradition, this star gives misfortune, despair, regrets and public disgrace. But it is why these negative outcomes can occur that gives us more hope. Denebola make makes people noble, generous, open-minded and forward thinking.
Old time astrologers wrote their interpretation in times of strict tradition, when future oriented thinking could lead you to The Inquisition. So misfortune would result from promoting new ways of thinking. The generosity given by Denebola could also be taken advantage of. This seemed especially so in love relationships, where the Saturn Venus nature of this star came out:
“In classical and medieval times a man’s misfortune and disgrace was generally attributed to a woman.” *
So we now have a solar eclipse theme of generosity being taken advantage of in relationships, plus the challenges associated with future oriented thinking. As shown in the solar eclipse September 2015 astrology chart below, the major aspect to the Sun and Moon is the opposition to Chiron.
Healing Broken Hearts
The solar eclipse opposite Chiron suggests a wound to the solar self-esteem, feeling unable to fully express ourselves or being dominated. Unfulfilled or wounded lunar emotions may result from rejection, or in other ways being hurt in a relationship. The effect on children or other family members may be issues, along with associated grief and guilt.
In exposing these wounds, Chiron will force us to learn about methods to regain self-esteem and pride, to repair hurt feeling and remove guilt. Natural techniques to heal the psychology are preferable, methods such as astrology, tarot, herbal medicine, yoga, past life regression, and the list goes on.
Sun quincunx Uranus is the other aspect to the solar eclipse. The karmic nature of the quincunx mixes well with the retrograde motion of Uranus, Neptune and Chiron. The Star Denebola also involves karmic issues as it is the only animal in the ecliptic constellations that faces backwards. The Lion’s tail itself relates to the past, but then facing forward it gives the future orientation theme.
Uranus is also future oriented. Moon and Sun quincunx Uranus suggests a stressful situation in which karmic re-balancing comes following some dramatic swings. In this case, an inventive or new approach is required to heal the ego and emotions. Although a disruptive eclipse, creativity and brilliance will help on the path to a new future, a stronger and more emotionally balanced person ready for new love.
A new start is defined by the solar eclipse itself, by the star Denebola, and now by Uranus. The relationship theme came with the star, and now if we follow the blue line from Uranus we find Venus and Mars. Though the Venus Mars conjunction is very wide at over seven degrees, it is important given the trines from both these love relationship planets to Uranus. It becomes even more important when we remember that the exact conjunction occurs on the solar eclipse degree in early November 2015. Jupiter passing this degree later in November then another two times, makes the Venus Mars conjunction a bigger and more fortunate feature of the solar eclipse chart.
Venus conjunct Mars has a profound effect on relationships. It gives the perfect mix of love and lust, making us feel and look more attractive. Venus trine Uranus and Mars trine Uranus energize the desire and pursuit of a mate with anticipation and electric attraction. Intuition and a creative spark apply to love relationships plus other areas of life. New creative projects can succeed with this boost of enthusiasm and initiative.
However, just as with new inventions, the intense burst of energy in the initial stages of romance will fade. I am still very optimistic about this eclipse because of the activation of the eclipse point by the Venus Mars conjunction and then three times by Jupiter. This poking and prodding will live legs to new love. It will also stimulate the re-invigoration of flagging relationships, which should also enjoy the healing qualities of this solar eclipse.
Mercury sextile Venus is the tightest aspect in the solar eclipse horoscope at 0°20′. This sociable influence reduces stress and increases harmony. It will help us get in touch with our own psychology in order to heal the wound exposed by Chiron. Increased charisma and diplomatic skills will assist in the healing of relationships and the formation of new ones.
Jupiter opposite Neptune is the major background influence to the solar eclipse. This sparks curiosity and experimentation to alleviate spiritual growing pains. This will assist in the trial and error process of finding the appropriate healing methods.
However, Jupiter opposite Neptune present its own challenges. There is an increased chance of self-deception, or a continuation of the initial theme of being taken advantage of. In our search for the truth, we may encounter extremes in beliefs and ideas. Finding the right balance is key, and this applies to all the themes brought up by this September 2015 solar eclipse.

HI Jamie, this is great. I have a Mars-Venus-Moon stellium at 19, 22 and 24 Virgo, in my 5th house with the Moon just in my 6th house. I lost my job earlier this year and I’ve been very depressed. The eclipse opposite Chiron in Pisces also indicates that in order to heal our emotional wounds, we need to get over ourselves first. If we dispel with the illusions of self isolation, lack, desire, fear and ego centredness, then we are free to evolve to a higher level of “conscious awareness”. That’s the only currency that makes any sense of human suffering.
It takes enormous courage to open our hearts and expose the darkness that lies there within each and every one of us. Make peace within our selves and then share that same compassion with others. I just looked up a Davidson’s chart for Whitley Streiber and Jamie Partridge. The date falls on January 21, 1957. According to Gary Goldschneider’s Secret Language of Birthdays website (www.thesecretlanguageofbirthdays.com), this is The Day of The Influential Frontrunner.

Sorry Meli, I made a mistake, Denebola is too far from your Jupiter as well. Try Asterion at 17°42′ Virgo. Much nicer. Solar eclipse sextile your Venus is good for many things. As for new house, it depends if it is close to your IC.

In fact, when I read this sentence “great respect given to the individual for services well given” recent feedback from some of my clients came to my mind. As my Jupiter is in the second house I guess it makes sense that this great respect comes from clients who are satisfy with my professional services.

The eclipse has brought to light among other things the existence of a third person in a love relationship (Venus on 12house?)…It appears that nothing happened yet with this third person but feelings are there so the other person in my relationship is apparently confused as there is also feeling towards me…I don’t like games so not sure if the eclipse is good…we will have a face to face talk in a couple of days (22) when Uranus us trines Venus …and then the eclipse on 27 Sept touches my moon …and the new moon on October my natal Pluto which is natally square to my Venus and conjunct IC…Is this a non negotiable situation taking into account that it came with the eclipse?

Last solar eclipse rocked the foundation of my life and belief system and the last 6 months, actually 20 months have been brutal. Last 6 months especially impacted was deception in relationships. I have a Natal Chiron 20’47” Pisces 5th house along with Saturn Pisces 5th House. Venus and Sun 3′ and 0′ respective Taurus with Jupiter 29′ Taurus 8th house. Mars 8′ Virgo 11th House. I think the major deal at the moment is Saturn directly opposite your Jupiter. Coinciding with the eclipse opposite your Chiron this should be a healing turning point. Jupiter about to hit your Mars is excellent for strength and success. Best of luck.

Hi Dan, this eclipse is not going to have a major impact on your Sun or Ascendant. Saturn is more interesting as the eclipse is close. The Jupiter and the Venus Mars conjunction hitting your Saturn suggests a culmination in your life relating to hard work over many years. Could be more responsibility but that which you want, Achievement and recognition and perhaps commitment in a relationship. Depends what you want because you will probably get it.

Things are very financially difficult for me as I wait for my grants to come in so I can pay my bills. They don’t come in until October, but I’ve been getting by. Hi Jamie, I just had a look at where the eclipse fall in the national chart of Germany – Mercury is at 25 Virgo and Moon is 18 Pisces so although not exact it definitely falls within close range. Germany is being very generous, preparing to take up to 800,000 refugees from Syria but will the act of generosity sour? Already there are grumblings about not being able to look after the existing people who need assistance. Healing of broken hearts but with noses out of joint?

Hi Jamie. this is a big one for me. I have Saturn in Virgo 17 degrees on my IC in the 4th. It is square to my Moon and Chiron in the 6th. (so i’m go. through a Chiron square Chiron transit ) Oh, and Mars is oppos. my Aquarius sun ex.degree 22 degrees. i know that one is short duration, but feeling it also. I’m in San Francisco. Anything i can do to smooth the rough edges of all of this?
I feel for you with Moon square Saturn. But them I think this eclipse will do wonders for working through the emotional challenges of that natal aspect. The eclipse shining a light on Saturn should help ease its restrictive nature and help you to lighten your emotions and express them.

This one’s directly on my Midheaven at ~20 Virgo. A friend of mine also has South Node around 22 Virgo and her moon’s also at 24 Virgo (my North Node at around 27 Virgo might be a bit far for this. Eclipse in her 8th house, while mine’s kinda self-explanatory. Transit Chiron’s pretty much on my Imum Coeli right now too (so, close to my friend’s North Node in her 2nd house).
And this combined with Mercury station retrograde on my Libra Mars/Pluto/Venus stellium also still in my 10th house this coming week.

I feel that if he were to put Michael Brown’s Presence Process at the heart of his new healing community, he would enjoy tremendous success. Hi Gianna. You need to cast your Free Chart and find the degrees of your planets. The closer your Virgo planets are to 20 degrees Virgo, the stronger this eclipse will be for you. The link at the bottom of this post to Sun transit will have more details. For example, Sun conjunct Mars, Sun conjunct Venus transit.

Yes, the transit itself would but a 6 degree orb will lessen the impact: Sun opposite Moon transit.
could this eclipse effect health? I thought since it involves venus/mars and my sun/moon (17 pisces 10th, 18 virgo 4th) it might impact relationships but since sept. I’ve had a challenging infection that is finally gone, hopefully never to return. Maybe chiron? I definitely have been focused on more creativity in career since nov.
Hi Hailey, eclipses like any transit can affect your health. Jupiter opposite Neptune in the eclipse chart affects the health, with Neptune ruling infection, and Jupiter the growth, or expansion of the infection. The quincunx aspect is also related to health imbalances. You are right about the rest, especially Chiron of course. Also check out asteroid Hygeia in your chart.

September 1st, 2016 we’ll have a Solar Eclipse at 9 degrees in Virgo, I have my moon in Gemini (2nd-3rd house) and Pluto in Virgo ( 6th house) both at 9 degree’s in my birth chart. I’ve been freaked out, not sleeping and worried to death about this. I’m a Cap and have been through total crap for years, all Cap’s hear me… last April’s eclipse was tough for me. I have no idea what to expect?

No need to worry Debra. Not sure about the overall feel of that eclipse but having your natal Moon conjunct the fixed star Aldebaran is very fortunate and powerful. However, like all with all the four Archangel stars, you will go though some extreme ups and downs.

Yes Erika, the September 2015 and the March 2016 solar eclipses are pretty much opposite each other. I don’t pay any attention to Houses or Signs so I can’t hep you there.

I’ve been researching the August / September eclipses as they are going to be important for me. The first lunar eclipse on 18 Aug at 26 Aquarius will be conjunct my natal 12th house cusp, the solar eclipse 1st Sept will be conjunct my natal Virgo sun at 10:41 and the second lunar eclipse on 16th Sept will be conjunct my natal 24:32 Pisces Ascendant. It’s a lot to decipher and I’m not sure how it will all play out?
My natal sun in my 6th house and rules my 6th so I suspect some sort of new beginning maybe with a new job or some kind of lifestyle or health change but with transiting Neptune opposing and Saturn squaring I’m not sure this will be all rainbows and lollipops.
Then the Lunar eclipse conjunct my ascendant maybe indicating some sort of ending has me a bit worried. My Father turned 82 recently and this lunar eclipse will also be square my natal MC/IC so it might have something to do with him?
Any thoughts?

Hi Cel, I don’t use houses or rules but the lunar eclipse on your AC is significant. I would not be worried about your father based on lunar eclipse square MC because AC square MC is not a significant natal aspect because so many people have it. However, Saturn/Neptune square Sun makes sense not because of House 6 but because Sun rules your vitality and your father. Saturn/Neptune can indicate weakness or illness.

I’ve just been looking at my lunar return on the 25 Aug before the Solar Eclipse that will be conjunct my natal Sun at 10.41 Virgo and it is a doozy! I have sun and moon square natally so there will be a grand cross – Transit Saturn & Mars conjunction in 9th house Sage square transiting Neptune 12th house Pisces opposite natal Sun 6th house Virgo and square natal Moon 3rd House Gemini. Transiting Venus will be 11 minutes applying conjunction to my Descendant.
If I try and delinate this I think it will probably have something to do with my job – I work in higher education (9th house) and Sun rules natal 6th house, 3rd house moon emotions and communication and Neptune is my chart ruler. I have had a enough and resign!!!!
When you say you don’t use houses or rulers what do you mean? Just during eclipses or astrology in general?

That applies to al of my astrology,. For example, I get so confused reading your comment. I am only interested in aspects and transits out of that information. I believe it greatly confuses all astrologers at al levels too.
But “Transiting Venus will be 11 minutes applying conjunction to my Descendant.” is very significant. I do pay a lot of attention to the AC and MC.
