A Provocative aspect pattern is a quadrilateral formed by Full Moon aspects mentioned above. It causes nervousness and restlessness and gives a tendency to interrupt with a question, make a conjecture, scorn pleasure and always find something that is not right.

A provocation is a one-sided challenge. This figure gives the ability to recognize other people’s sore points. It makes some people provoke others to dominate them or make themselves indispensable. Inner insecurity (Sun quincunx Pluto) can make you intrusive and manipulative, believing that “attack is the best form of defense.”

On the other hand, “pro” means to be in favor of something. The Provocative aspect pattern allows you to assert yourself in favor of a particular thing against existing resistance. It gives the courage to bring things into the open that would remain hidden.

This pattern can also provoke your thoughts to make you achieve something. It helps you focus on a specific task with exclusive concentration, but at the same time, you should not forget to question your ignorance and take off your blinkers from time to time. ^[1]

The Constellations

The Full Moon in June 2024 is in the Sign of Capricorn. However, as the star map below shows, it is located in the Constellation of Sagittarius. The Signs and the Constellations do not match up. Over the last 2000 years, the Constellations have moved nearly 30° out of alignment with the Signs because of the precession of the equinoxes.

Spiculum

Fixed star Spiculum imparts courage of convictions, ambition, fetishes, self-destruction, eye or ear problems, and chronic, difficult-to-diagnose or possibly serious illness. ^[2] Of the nature of Mars and the Moon (adventurous, treacherous, insolent, wanton, brutal, dangerous to eyes), and specifically mentioned by Ptolemy as productive of blindness. ^[2]

As one of the ‘blind stars,’ Spiculum is a figure of great foreboding. It gives a strong tendency towards depression and a rather morbid outlook religiously when harshly aspected (opposite Sun, square Neptune). It makes for all manner of problems, psychological and physical, eyesight included. There is often that feeling of negative ‘fear of God’… that we are hopelessly doomed. The classic novel The Day of the Triffids, with its fear of the extinction of humanity by mere plants, perfectly conveys this nebula’s negative associations. ^[4]

With the Moon: Great courage, aspiring, ambitious and adventurous, treading where others fear to go. May become obsessed with extremes in personal desires, which could develop into fetishes like a fear of germs and constant hand washing, hoarding or greed. Subject to drug addiction resulting in self-destruction or illness. ^[2]

Full Moon June 2024 Meaning

The June 21 Full Moon has a challenging influence because of the harsh Neptune aspect. The major themes are confusion, insecurity, and deception. However, the astrology of this moon phase is not so simple. Pluto adds fears, threats, conflict and crisis, while the aspect pattern adds nervousness, restlessness and provocation.

Yet more complexity comes from the star clusters and nebulae. Spiculum gives courage and ambition but causes a pessimistic outlook and intensifies Pluto’s fears, obsessions and extremes. The combined effects point to threats and provocation through extremism, manipulation, undermining, subversion, deceit and propaganda. There is a slight chance that collective courage and compassion can avert the crises of sacrifice and suffering.

The influence of the June 21 Full Moon lasts two weeks until the July 5 New Moon. Astrologically, a Full Moon is influenced by the preceding New Moon. The June 6 New Moon aligned with Venus to encourage love and harmony. However, it was also square Saturn, which means hard work, determination and patience are needed to achieve peace.
