Early October 2026 brings extremely challenging astrology. I have already posted about Venus retrograde on October 3, “Love and Chaos.” Two oppositions and two square aspects in the first week of October indicate tension, harship, crisis and conflict. They also involve the two malefic planets, Mars and Saturn:

The first 10-12 days of October 2026 look stressful, with the most intense period being from October 3 to 6. The Mercury-Venus alignment on October 6 is the most significant aspect because conjunctions are the most potent aspects. This degree is already highly sensitive because of Venus stationary retrograde.

October 3 to 6, 2026

Oct 03 – Mars opposite Pluto brings intense, passionate desires but makes them hard to achieve. This conflict between desire and action creates incredible inner tension. You may become extremely competitive, domineering, controlling, ruthless and aggressive. A sense of danger or separation may trigger adrenaline and the fight-or-flight response.

Considerable achievements are possible if you can channel such primal urges and transform them into physical or creative work. However, your actions can make others feel threatened or intimidated. Powerful enemies may resist, and they may use ruthless, subversive, immoral or illegal tactics. Choose your battles carefully.

Oct 04 – Sun opposite Saturn can bring restrictions and hardship. Overcoming these limiting conditions can be a real struggle because you may have to deal with feelings of melancholy, worry, loss, grief, shame, or low self-esteem. Your need for companionship may conflict with other people’s need for space and distance. Distance or separation from others can lead to rejection or isolation.

Other people may be critical, demanding, and impatient toward you, and you may have to become more demanding or patient to get what is typically straightforward. These tests and trials can either make you miserable and frustrated or inspire you to succeed. Critical thinking and a serious, thoughtful attitude can help you learn new skills and gain valuable knowledge.

Oct 06 – Mercury conjunct Venus helps you share your love and affection and encourages personal interaction, making communications more harmonious and pleasant. However, Mercury conjunct Venus retrograde can cause tension in your love life as differences in your ideas or plans become more apparent.

Carelessness with your words and a tendency to be impersonal and opinionated could lead to embarrassment, disagreements or arguments. This conjunction is not favorable for important meetings, negotiations, diplomacy or business dealings. In mundane astrology, Mercury conjunct Venus signifies changes in plans and military worries.

χ Her (0°23′): Asterism Qigong the Seven Excellencies (02♏54 to 19♏41) represents senior government officials and governs law enforcement and the ranking of officials, good and evil.
     With Venus stationary: The world is in chaos and war breaks out.

λ Vir (0°54′): Fixed star Khambalia (07♏19) brings good fortune, unexpected gains, philosophical inclinations, pragmatism, and sociability, but also swift violence, unreliability, changeability, and an impersonal, argumentative nature.
      It symbolizes the penetration of secrets and denotes those skilled at applying intellect to deep research of any kind, police-type investigation, espionage and pursuits such as alchemy and the esoteric in general.
      With Mercury: Quick thinking and verbal responses, but writing, statements and conversations can create lasting problems. Self-destruction possible.
      With Venus: Cold, impersonal responses; meanness; harboring grudges; and an almost get-even attitude.

Asterism Kang the Neck (04♏10 to 07♏19) gives fighting spirit, leadership ability, eloquent speech and shrewd, persuasive decision-making, but also impulsiveness, a lack of thoroughness, and fluctuating fortunes due to arrogance and vanity.
      This asterism is favorable for marriage, burials, sacrifices, making friends, venting grievances, teaching drums and other musical instruments; planting pine trees, grains, beans, soybeans, and hemp; and training horses, mules, and donkeys. It is unfavorable for acting independently.
      In mundane astrology, Kang represents the emperor’s inner court, overseeing all matters reported to the emperor. It governs the hearing of lawsuits, the administration of justice, the recording of merits, epidemics and diseases.
      With Mercury: Floods and major warfare.
      With Venus: The country will suffer loss, and its people will suffer disaster.
      With Venus stationary: Floods, droughts, or royal mourning occur.
      With Venus retrograde: Military chaos will follow.

Summary

The harsh aspects involving Mars, Saturn and Pluto heighten the risk of personal harship and geopolitical tensions. Leading up to the Mercury-Venus conjunction, they build pressure from threats, restrictions and barriers that may lead to a significant disaster or crisis. Violence and warfare become more intense and extreme. There is a risk of repression, subversion, espionage, false flag operations, and threats or the use of nuclear weapons.
