Tiansi at 13°56′ Taurus has an orb of 2°10′.
Fixed star Tiansi, Gamma Cassiopeiae (γ Cas), is a 2nd-magnitude multiple star system on the right hand of the Seated Woman, constellation Cassiopeia.
Variable magnitude: 2.39±0.01; spectral type: B0.5IVe; color: blue-white. It is classified as a Gamma Cassiopeiae variable and a fast spinner, with a projected rotational velocity of 389 km/s, resulting in a pronounced equatorial bulge. The system could contain up to eight stars and is among the highest-multiplicity systems known. Gamma Cassiopeiae A, the bright primary, is itself a spectroscopic binary. The next-largest companion has a magnitude of 11.
γ Cas is officially named Tiansi. [1]
In Medieval Chinese astronomy, γ Cas was named 天驷 (Tian Si) “Celestial Horses.” 天 (tiān) means sky or heaven. 驷 (sì) means four horses driving a chariot together. It was one of the four Tian Si in the asterism Wang Liang, named after a famous charioteer (β Cas). κ Cas was Ce, “Whip.” [see image]
In Modern Chinese astronomy, γ Cas is the single-star asterism 策 (Cè), “Whip”. It is the 9th asterism of the 15th Chinese lunar mansion 奎宿 (Kuí Su), “Legs Mansion.” κ Cas is Wang Liang II. So γ Cas made a direct swap with κ Cas.
γ, Binary, 2 and 11, brilliant white,
in Cassiopeia’s girdle, was the Chinese Tsih, a Whip. [2]
The star was used as an easily identifiable navigational reference point during space missions, and American astronaut Virgil Ivan “Gus” Grissom nicknamed the star Navi after his own middle name spelled backward. [1]

Tiansi Astrology
Fixed star Tiansi has the spectral type B0, indicating the planetary nature of Jupiter.
SPECTRAL CLASS B: A fondness for power, great authority, the ability to command, martial honors, kingly preferment, victory over enemies, liberality, and cosmopolitan views. High honors, wealth, and renown are possible. It also suggests a higher spiritual nature, but few can respond. [3]
JUPITER: If rising, sober, grave, patient, legacies, ecclesiastical preferment. If culminating, honor, glory, preferment, success in trade and in the Church. [4]
Ma Duanlin (1317)
The foremost star is called Ce (Whip), representing the charioteer’s whip; it governs the Emperor’s carriage drivers. Situated beside Wang Liang, if it shifts to a position behind the “horses,” it signifies that the fields are filled with chariots and cavalry. [5]
Song History (1346)
The star Ce Yi Xing lies north of Wang Liang; it represents the charioteer of the Emperor and governs the holding of the whip and the driving of the chariot. If a shooting star, a comet, a bei star, or a guest star encroaches upon it, it signifies the outbreak of major warfare, requiring the Emperor to personally lead the campaign in the field; a close approach indicates a plot to rebel among his subjects. Constellation Cassiopeia the Seated Woman
16♈24 to 17♊21
CASSIOPEIA. The Seated Woman.
Legend. Cassiopeia, the wife of Cepheus and mother of Andromeda, was taken into heaven in consideration of the deeds of Perseus (see ANDROMEDA). She is said to have boasted that not only Andromeda but she herself was fairer than the Nereids, and for that reason she was bound to her chair and condemned to circle the pole head downwards as a lesson in humility.
Influence. According to Ptolemy this constellation is of the nature of Saturn and Venus. It is said to give haughtiness, boastfulness and exaggerated pride, but at the same time the power of commanding respect. It is associated by the Kabalists with the Hebrew letter Beth and the 2nd Tarot Trump “The High Priestess.”
Magical. Restores weak bodies and strengthens members.
The constellation Cassiopeia (Cas) presages events that concern Africa and African people. Its bright stars are said to have the nature of Saturn (Schedir) and Venus (Rucha). [7]
