Scheat Astrology

Fixed star Scheat has the spectral type M2.5, which indicates the planetary nature of Saturn.

According to Ptolemy it is of the nature of Mars and Mercury; to Simmonite, of Saturn; to other authors, of Saturn and Mercury; and, to Alvidas, of Neptune in square to Saturn or Mars. It causes extreme misfortune, murder, suicide, and drowning. [1]

This star imparts to its natives’ stubbornness, one who can be headstrong of a combative nature. The native gains lose friends and acquaintances, may be unfortunate, of a changeable, almost unpredictable nature, has high enterprise, and may be subject to violence. May become of a controversial nature. Fantasizes. [6]

Scheat is an especially unfortunate star regarding the sea. It was said to indicate danger from that element in the form of tidal waves or violent storms. [2]

Scheat, the Shoulder of Pegasus, is a fixed star of accentuated Saturnian character. Tied up with a malefic, this could lead the native to lose his life in catastrophes such as floods, shipwrecks, mining accidents, airplane accidents or maybe by suicide. In a mundane chart, with transiting MC or Asc in conjunction, an accident or catastrophe may happen. The first atomic explosion, July 16, 1945, saw Scheat conjunct transiting MC and semisquare Saturn. When the severe Alaskan earthquake occurred March 27-28, 1964, Scheat was conjunct Mars square MC and opposite Asc. On the other hand, it is possible for a positive influence to emanate from Scheat, but only for some people and have an effect on their mental creativity if these people are ready to receive such inflow. Scheat has a bad effect only if tied up with malefics. [3]

α and β Pagasi; respectively Markab and Scheat, are both Mars-Mercury stars. Both these stars are true-black malefics in traditional astrology, promising injury by one’s hand or another’s and life imprisonment. We can now see how, in the times of profane use of astrology, this arose. At this far end of the Zodiac, we find it easy to delude ourselves that ‘now we know it all’; we can take our seats with the gods. ‘Markab’ is commonly a ship but may be used for any kind of conveyance, a saddle on a horse included, so off we go in or on it. If we did indeed learn what Andromeda had to teach us at the start of the journey, then fine, we can achieve ‘Great Mastery,’ the occasionally mentioned positive signature of these two stars: all we could wish for, that being the meaning of Scheat (Al Shi’at). But if we started out rightly, then we should have here no need to exhibit that mastery in secular power, nor should we still need to wish for more than we already have and are: ‘My Kingdom is not the world’, as Jesus said so well. So we can easily recognize the quiet, unassuming, untroubled true master from the embattled, imprisoned, pathetic pretender to mastery. [4]

Scheat rules the center of the ball of the left foot. [4]

The three main stars of Pegasus all have a similar astrological influence, those being Scheat, Markab and Algenib. Although Scheat has a nasty reputation in astrology, there are plenty of examples of people with this star prominent expressing the positive manifestations of Scheat. So much depends on the whole chart, the aspects from Scheat and the other stars in the chart.

Constellation Pegasus

Constellation Pegasus the Flying Horse gives ambition, vanity, intuition, enthusiasm, caprice, and bad judgment. It prevails against the diseases of horses and preserves horsemen in battle. According to Ptolemy, the bright stars are like Mars and Mercury. [1]

The constellation portends events concerning ships and the ocean and also changes in the weather. In medieval times, it was said to indicate vain individuals with a great deal of ambition but very poor judgment. [2]

Pegasus, like birds, angels, and most celestial winged creatures, is an allegory for the superior spiritual power that the hero first sought out to aid him in his task, and the Owl represents the wisdom side of that same power. [3]

In mundane astrology, Pegasus is associated with drowning, accidents, catastrophes, earthquakes, tsunamis, storms, floods, shipwrecks, mining accidents, airplane accidents, falling accidents, shooting down from high, horses, jockeys, transportation, communications, space travel, exploration, pioneering, science, invention and heroism.

Fixed Star Scheat Conjunctions

Ascendant conjunct Scheat: Grave, thoughtful, melancholy, liable to disgrace, much care and anxiety, connected with building, mines and minerals (Saturn nature). [1]

Midheaven conjunct Scheat: Trouble through old people, disgrace, trade losses, deceitful associates, rise followed by fall (Saturn nature). [1]

Cecilia Bartoli 0°33′ (and Saturn), Augusto Pinochet 1°29′

Descendant conjunct Scheat: Alexei Navalny 0°45′, David Duke 0°47′, Bruce Willis 1°03′ (and Sun), Rudy Giuliani 1°09′, Dave Chappelle 1°20′

Part of Fortune conjunct Scheat: Julian Assange 0°05′, Rupert Murdoch 0°18′, Rudolf Hess 0°21′, Louis XVII 0°39′, Bernadette Brady 1°03′

Sun conjunct Scheat: Danger through water and engines, liable to accidents or drowning. [1]

Preferment in astrology, occult, and matters dealing with the public. Success follows disappointments: Natives with this conjunction should exercise caution not to get involved in questionable activities, or else legal entanglement may ensue, some serious, some not so serious, depending upon the nature of the involvement. Potentially dangerous situations could prove disastrous. [6]

Sirhan Sirhan 0°18′ (and Mercury), Bruce Willis 0°24′ (and DC), James McGonagle 0°25′, Brian Mulroney 0°30′, Earl Warren 0°41′, Harvey Weinstein 0°44′, Edgar Cayce 0°44′, Ronaldinho 1°34′, Michelangelo 1°58′.

As an example of the importance of considering the whole chart, James McGonagle (a goalie in Canada’s Junior A Hockey League) tragically died in 2002, aged 19. He crashed his car “danger through engines” and went through the windshield into the water “danger through water….liable to accidents and drowning”. The tight square from watery Neptune (21′) and the Lunar Nodes (06′) made this tough for James. The North Node was conjunct fixed star Menkalinan (14′), “frequently, violent death.” The Sun was also quincunx Pluto (38′). Interestingly, when he died, transiting Pluto was conjunct his Vertex.

Brian Mulroney, the Prime Minister of Canada from 1984 to 1993, has Sun square Mars (33′) and Sun trine Pluto (19′). Neither Mars nor Pluto is on any major star, certainly not the nasty star that James’ North Node was on. The trine to Pluto helped take him to the top of politics. His Sun also sextiles his Midheaven (career) by just 24′. He gained his real power in 1982 when transiting Pluto was on his Vertex, on the most fortunate fixed star Arcturus.

Moon conjunct Scheat: Worry, loss and gain of friends through criticism, danger of accidents and by water. [1]

The native has many friends and/or acquaintances; however, the native is always acquiring new friends or acquaintances. Some of these natives may entertain the idea that ‘friends desert’ them, some of these natives are overly imaginative. Eventually, criticism is directed to the native. The native makes enemies known and unknown, and the native may become controversial. There is the possibility of a tendency towards fantasizing by some of these natives. Possibility of violence or chronic, difficult-to-diagnose or possibly serious illness. Self-destructive tendencies. [6]

John Wayne Gacy 0°15′, Richard Ramirez 0°21′, Kim Kardashian 0°57′ James Woods 1°21′.

Mercury conjunct Scheat: Many accidents and narrow escapes, especially by water, many enemies, trouble through writings, bad for health and domestic affairs. [1]

The native is mentally keen but can be criticized through their actions or statements. These natives always have one last and generally unkind remark or statement. The less advanced natives under this conjunction will tend to belabor or belittle someone, knowingly or unknowingly. The native can become a victim of unfortunate circumstances. There is the possibility of domestic problems with this conjunction. [6]

(No orb): This causes growth on the left foot, such as warts or types of fungus. There is a disruption of the energy through the lungs and breathing areas of the chest, causing fungus growth in the lungs. Anyone having this configuration should definitely not smoke, or a serious health problem will result. Emphysema, cancer, and other types of lung diseases of a serious nature are a certainty with those who have this configuration if they elect to smoke or otherwise take in foreign matter into the lungs. Natives with this conjunction should drink hot teas such as sassafras, red ginger, ginger root or goldenseal root in small amounts. These teas are purifiers and are too strong to drink continuously. As a preventative, a pinch of one of the teas in a large cup of hot water every other day would be adequate. However, if a disease has already taken hold, ginger root should be taken in small amounts every day, alternating with sassafras tea mixed with ginger root to add to the cleansing properties to the herbs. Combining sassafras with ginger root would ordinarily be too powerful for the body to handle, but in extreme cases, these persons can handle this combination for three days using a teaspoon of each herb in a large cup of hot water. This can be helpful even in the case of cancer or any type of fungus-related disease anywhere in the body. [5]

William Henry Drummond 0°02′, Pope Benedict XVI 0°04′, Shawna Leneé 0°06′, Elizabeth Montgomery 0°15′, Ed O’Neil 0°16′, Charles Baudelaire 0°31′, Jeffrey Archer 0°34′, Sirhan Sirhan 0°46′ (and Sun), Kitty Kelley 0°54′, David Letterman 0°56′, Henry, Duke of Gloucester 1°04′, Victor Hugo 1°12′, Gabriel Garcia Marquez 1°13′, Samantha Fox 1°16′, William Wordsworth 1°24′, Adrien Brody 1°27′, Kourtney Kardashian 1°39′.

Mercury conjunct Mars conjunct Scheat: This disrupts the subconscious flow of energy to the brain in addition to the problems that Mercury alone can cause at this point. There is difficulty with nurturing and thought processes. Natives usually succumb to cheat colds, and others notice that they continually have a slight cough. They feel they must be hostile when communicating their thought processes due to the fact that they feel they did not receive enough attention from their mother. Their minds can deteriorate to a raging frenzy and disrupt others at their employment, home, or wherever they are at the time. They can be physically violent and other people do not wish to associate with them because of their disruptive tendencies. This brings on anger, and they live their lives attempting to destroy those things they desire themselves. This is a self-undoing, and it is the way they wish to live their lives. [1]

Venus conjunct Scheat: Evil environment, suffering through own acts, danger of imprisonment or restraint. [1]

Natives with this conjunction tend to create their own problems and even create problems for those associated with them. There is the danger of having some restraint in their lives, possibly something that could change the course of their life. Some of these natives create or live in a poor environment and make no effort to improve themselves. [6]

Drew Barrymore 0°15′, Vincent van Gogh 0°44′ (and Mars).

Mars conjunct Scheat: Many accidents, sickness to native and relatives. [1]

The native, with this conjunction, has high enterprise and is very ambitious, but there can be some combativeness exhibited by the native. The native can also suffer from a variety of misfortunes, or from family upsets or other family conditions. Any recognition will come late. [6]

The danger of death in catastrophes such as floods, shipwrecks, mining accidents, airplane accidents, or maybe by suicide. [3]

(No orb): These individuals experience a slight inflammation through the muscles of the left foot and the bronchial sacs. This may manifest as a boil on the bottom of the foot or in the bronchial area. There can be a persistent cough with mucus, with the problem being difficult to diagnose and to heal. These persons should drink hot peppermint or spearmint teas continuously as it is difficult to draw the infections from the bronchial area. The infected mucus simply drifts to other parts of the body, infecting the intestinal and stomach areas. [5]

Che Guevara 0°20′, Jamison Twins 0°26′, Conor McGregor 0°52′, Vincent van Gogh 1°11′ (and Venus), Prince 1°42′.

Jupiter conjunct Scheat: Many voyages, losses through law, friends and relatives, the danger of imprisonment. [1]

Preferment in business, religion, legal, occult, writings, philosophy and unusual occupations. Natives with this conjunction, with a well-aspected Jupiter and other good horoscopic conditions, can prove successful in any of the above careers and make a name and fame for themselves. Negatively, the same general conditions would apply, however, coupled with this is the possibility of disappointment in business or careers. [6]

Friedrich Nietzsche 1°11′, Louis XVII of France 1°32′.

Saturn conjunct Scheat: Danger of death in infancy, domestic trouble, colds and consumption, death by drowning or accident. [1]

The danger of death in catastrophes such as floods, shipwrecks, mining accidents, airplane accidents, or maybe by suicide. [3]

Kurt Cobain 0°10′, Cecilia Bartoli 0°21′ (and MC), Anthony Hopkins 0°36′, Frida Kahlo 0°38′, Jack Nicholson 1°12′, Joseph Stalin 1°14′, Queen Victoria 1°53′ (and Pluto)

Uranus conjunct Scheat: Deceitful, vacillating, little concentration, psychic, unreliable, involved in difficulties due to own acts, many accidents, death through drowning or by water, especially if in 1st, 6th, 8th or 10th houses. [1]

The danger of death in catastrophes such as floods, shipwrecks, mining accidents, airplane accidents, or maybe by suicide. [3]

(No orb): This causes slight spams through the feet that can be considered nerve disorders for the most part. Rubbing the feet often would be a good habit with any type of oil, and soaking them in warm water with a small amount of baking soda. Drinking a half glass of warm milk in the morning will literally heal the nerves and should be made a daily ritual. [5]

Gabriel Garcia Marquez 0°13′, Marilyn Monroe 0°39′, Elizabeth II 0°58′, Lorraine Warren 1°29′, Hugh Hefner 1°33′

Neptune conjunct Scheat: Prominent in inventive, occult or psychic matters, persecuted, peculiar domestic conditions, many accidents, danger of drowning. [1]

The danger of death in catastrophes such as floods, shipwrecks, mining accidents, airplane accidents, or maybe by suicide. [3]

Ivan The Terrible 0′12, Alan Leo 1°37′

Pluto conjunct Scheat: Danger of death in catastrophes such as floods, shipwrecks, mining accidents, airplane accidents, or maybe by suicide. [3]

(No orb): This position causes the person to have a self-destructive attitude. This is similar to Mercury conjunct Mars at this point, but the self-destructive tendencies are much greater in that they force others to dislike them. They carry out their own self-undoing through various means, like cutting themselves purposely; they burn themselves or commit suicide by jumping in front of a car or train. By doing these things, they feel they are hurting another individual in their life. They have a severe martyr complex to the point of self-destruction. This is an emotional disorder in that they feel they are harming others by harming themselves. No help can be given to these natives as they have set out to do these things in their incarnation. This configuration will occur again when the next age is on the scene. It will not be as powerful at that time as it has been in this age. There will be incarnations by those from this age who have chosen this configuration to experience these things; however, in the next age, others will simply ignore these self-destructive tendencies. In the coming Age of Aquarius, if they wish to injure or destroy themselves, others will pay little attention. The elevation of the minds of people in this new age will allow them to pay scant attention to those who wish to destroy themselves. They would feel that it would be better to rid themselves of such a person rather than become emotional over the self-inflicted injuries or destruction they have brought upon themselves. [5]

Queen Victoria 0°31′ (and Saturn), Walt Whitman 0°36′, Karl Marx 0°52′, Charles Baudelaire 1°52′.

North Node conjunct Scheat: Dr. Phil McGraw 0°13′, Paul Cézanne 0°37′, Ted Kennedy 0°54′, Mariah Carey 1°08′, Tucker Carlson 1°30′.

South Node conjunct Scheat: Percy Bysshe Shelley 0°00′, Bob Dylan 0°00′, George Pell 0°08′, Salvador Dali 1°45′.

Scheat Star in Mundane Astrology

The mythology says Scheat is connected to misfortune and water and the air. I will focus on events related to storms, water, and the air (specifically planes, not spaceships). One more link I found was with industrial disputes. Only looking at Uranus and Saturn conjunct Scheat with orbs under 50′.

Water and Storms: The last time Uranus was on Scheat, the costliest hurricane in history hit America. On September 18, 1926, the Great Miami Hurricane killed over 370 people and left 50,000 homeless. In today’s terms, it cost $157 billion, compared to $99 billion for Hurricane Katrina in 2005. Uranus was conjunct Scheat by 45′. There were no aspects to Uranus as there will be this year. The last time Saturn was on Scheat, a ferry sank off Haiti on 01 April 1996, killing over 200 people. On 08 June 1996, an F5 tornado killed 16 people and caused $100 million in damages in Topeka, Kansas.

Air Accidents: The last time Uranus was on Scheat: The first African American to hold a pilot’s license, Bessie Coleman, died after falling 2,000 feet from her airplane on 30 April 1926. On 10 May 1926, two pilots parachuted to safety after their planes collided mid-air at Langley Field, Virginia. The last time Saturn was on Scheat: 03 April 1996, USAF CT-43 crashed in Croatia, killing all 35 onboard, including US Secretary of Commerce Ron Brown. 08 June 1996, an XB-70 Valkyrie and an F-104 Starfighter collided mid-air killing both pilots in Barstow, California. July 28, 1996, the US announced that a Lockheed U-2 spy plane had disappeared over Cuba. On August 6, 1996, Braniff Airlines Flight 250 crashed in Fall City, Nebraska, killing all 42 onboard.

Strikes: The last time Uranus was on Scheat: 03 May 1926, the British general strike in support of coal miners started. Over 1.5 million workers walked out, which led to the government declaring martial law. 19 February 1927, another general strike, this time in Shanghai, protesting the presence of British troops. The last time Saturn was on Scheat: 17 June 1996, Air France workers walked out on strike. 29 June 1996, a sailor’s strike ended in the UK. These last two tie in the “air” and “water” themes of Scheat so well.

Summary

Fixed stars evolve through time. Like us and our planet, their basic nature stays the same but slowly changes. As we evolve, the energy of the fixed stars and even the planets find new ways of expression. Scheat wasn’t involved in bringing down airplanes two centuries ago, nor spaceships last century ago. Just as technology is affected, so is our consciousness. We will find newer, higher manifestations of even the most dreaded fixed stars, including nasties like Scheat and Algol.

  1. Anne Whitaker has written a whole book about this conjunction: “Jupiter meets Uranus: from erotic bathing to star gazing”. You can learn more at her blog, jupitermeetsuranus.wordpress.com/2009/10/31/jupiter-meets-uranus-a-few-thoughts-on-the-201011-encounter

  2. Hi Jamie

thanks for the heads-up! I’m hoping some research-minded astrologer will collect data on the impact of the 2010/11 Jupiter/Uranus conjunction – then write it all up as I did for the 1997 one…any volunteers?
    Anne

  3. Hi Jamie

can’t find an email address for you hence this message.I’ve just added your site as a link to jupitermeetsuranus.wordpress.com/

A reciprocal link would be good – but if not, no worries!

Thanks for the Obama Health Bill article. Very thorough – and interesting comments!

    Best wishes
    Anne

  4. thanks for letting us know about that, will have to make our contact details easier to find here. link added, and yes, i will be collecting data on the conjunction and hopefully writing some more about it.

  5. What does “having Scheat prominent in the chart” mean exactly in layman’s terms? How do I find the position of the planet Scheat in my birth chart?

    Thank you.

  6. I just realized, duh, that Scheat must be somewhere around 28 degrees of Pisces (tell me if I am wrong) and that I will have Jupter/uranus conjunct in the sky and in my chart…I have a 29 degree Pisces midheaven. I guess you could say Scheat is prominent…Did I answer my own question…

    Tom

  7. I will give you an example of ,,Scheat proeminent in the chart” 🙂 : I have Mercury, Saturn and Mars conjunct with Scheat . If you put the Sun in Aries at 3 degrees then we have a Scheat with friens to play. For me, the conjunction of the stelium with Uranus in transit was benefic (11th house). I started painting again and i can create things more easily. I can say i have tons of ideas which prove to be very useful. Don’t consider Scheat always malefic. It’s not.

P.S. sorry for my english if i still make mistakes

  8. Wow Jenna, a stellium on Scheat. I was really hoping to get comments from people like you. Creativity is the positive manifestation, so Uranus was really the awakener for you? Thanks for sharing, very valuable information for others with this star in their chart.

  9. No problem. I searched on internet about Scheat and Pegasus and the articles were really fatalistic. I would associate Pegasus with inspiration, intuition, sensibility, mind, creativity ,depth, medicine, ambition and imprudence, indecision, maybe drowning and journeys and not with suicide, extreme misfortune, deadly illness, wounds, sudden death and stupidity. In mythology, it was associate with purity and freedom so it can’t be malefic.
I have a colleague at highschool who was born on the 19th of March (her Sun is on Scheat) and has very much talent in writing. She’s very cheerful, full of energy and knows how to swim ( no drowning 🙂 )and I’m sure many examples of positive influence of Scheat may follow.

  10. Fascinating and a bit scraed to see somethign manisfesting in the world…. I’ve always wondered about Scheat’s validity. It is exactly cj my 5th house cusp, Neptune in 1st cj Jupiter opp Saturn, my love life sucks for most of the time so I guess it works!!! But also into arts but not enough, sounds like I should try harder as it would be the most positive outcome. Food to ponder on, thanks!

  11. Thanks Myriam, glad you found us! I guess the events that occur over the next month will be a good test to see just how valid the interpretations are for Scheat. I’ll keep a track of events that might be related. Off hand there is still the ash cloud and oil spill, and rebellion in Thailand. Will be interesting to see if things like this escalate as the conjunctions near.

  12. Oh I know cupcake, once this conjunction is over I’ll add up all the dramas and add it in a comment or another post about the next conjunction later in the year. That oil spill is an absolute catastrophe, not only for the US. Very Scheat related, rage from the sea, Medusa’s blood spilled into the ocean.

  13. Wow, you people are really kooky.
Although, I suppose believing in astrology is just as legitimate as believing in Jesus.
So what’s with all this talk about research? It sounds like you are trying to apply science to astrology. Is there actually any real science involved here?
I think you guys are missing the point.
Why don’t you just go out on a clear night, look up at the sky, and enjoy the beauty of the vast, incomprehensible universe.
Why do you feel the need need to infer things about the significance of astronomical events? Isn’t it dangerous that millions of people around the world are unable to distinguish scientific fact from fiction?

  14. Knowing about photosynthesis doesn’t mean I don’t enjoy basking in nature too.
I love looking at the starry sky. If I could only see it through the smog!

Astrology is based on a weird mix of myth and observation of the night skies. People have been trying to make sense of the heavens since the year dot. It ain’t gonna stop now, just because we have….Science;)

  15. “You people?”

Hey, I happen to like these people.

Astrology involves some amount of Astronomy which, lo and behold, is a science :), Joe. And while I know that science is proclaimed to be the end-all in determining certain kinds of information, the truth is that it does not have all the answers. Just like religion. Just like Astrology. All are tools, not guides, but put in the right hands, like the ones here, they can move mountains.

  16. The church said Nicolaus Copernicus was kooky for saying the earth revolved around the sun.

  17. Now I feel quite scared (of unknown). Scheat is prominent in my natal chart, and it is in a conjunction with my ascendant at 29* Pisces. Having this Uranus-Jupiter transit ascendant-Scheat party, I cannot comprehend what to expect.

  18. “The catastophe in China escalated yesterday when a dyke busrt on the Fu river. Yesterday the Sun was square Uranus and Scheat.” Astrology of China and Brazil Floods

  19. Having only just discovered your website & after leaving a comment on the Full Moon page…Im in doubt now, about my future..my 8th House Jupiter at 00aries is conjunct scheat & trines my Asc/Nth Node conjuction…life has been getting worse & worse & im running out of options..is suicide the last one? I hope not!

  20. @Jen
Jupiter trine Ascendant is a very fortunate aspect, I have it too. Your’s especially so with Ascendant conjunct North Node. You see in the examples of natals above, even with a square to Mars from Sun on Scheat people have been very successful.

Jenna in the comments above has Mercury, Saturn and Mars conjunct with Scheat “Don’t consider Scheat always malefic. It’s not.””

These conjunctions of Jupiter and Uranus are no doubt very strong for you. As Ebertin says “it is possible for a positive influence to emanate from Scheat, but only for some people, it can have a positive effect on their mental creativity, if these people are ready to receive such inflow”

Now with Jupiter and Uranus on your Jupiter you should be able to experience this heightened spiritual awareness, and Jupiter trine North Node Ascendant suggests you are one capable or receiving this inflow. Above all, the planet Jupiter is your belief and faith, belief in yourself and faith in yourself.

  21. Hey Thanks Jamie, for clearing that up! I would think that overall, my life has had fortunate opportunities & that north node on the Asc, get me noticed – & remembered a lot ( masseuse to celebrities).
Jupiter in Aries in the 8th is opposite Saturn in the 2nd & Pluto transforming my 6th.. Its been a rotten 12 months – flooded out of a home & cant get agrip ( natal Neptune on IC), moving to a bigger city ( Brisbane ) has brought an opportunity to work as an astrologer/tarot/healer/past life channel at a new shop ( that opens in merc retro)..so me thinkuth its a stepping stone away from massage, though I’d like to keep the contacts in the film industry.
Please keep writing about the fixed stars – I find this addition to mundane Astrology, absolutely amazing!
    Cheers Jen

  22. Sorry to blog on your page again Jamie, but i just realized, Scheat in on my Solar Return Ascendant next April 4…conjunct Mars Uranus, Jupiter, Sun, Moon & Mercury all in the 1st house, opposite Saturn. :/ (4/4/63 Syd 205pm – relocated Brisbane)
My Solar Arc progressed Jupiter conjuncts the MC, same time.
..Ive been running through senarios & now have the added dimention of Scheat at 29Pis. Im hoping the cosmos will finally throw me a bone! I was a bit worried that Mars/Uranus would be some kind of accident, but now I tend to think its some kind of missile LOL!

  23. Ha ha! Jen sorry I had to laugh at “but now I tend to think its some kind of missile LOL!”
No way have you got all that stuff in the SR first! And it wont ALL be conjunct Scheat, 1 deg orb remember. The worse that could happen is you might fall of a horse. Just make sure it hasn’t got wings. Sorry it’s late here in London….Hopefully Jamie can give you a serious answer:)

  24. Jen, I have found that the precessed solar return charts are much more accurate than the non precessed. This is also what Robert Hand says in “Planets in Transit”.

  25. @Jamie Funk
the more I see of these ‘fine tunings’ to astrology the more important they seem and readings to a higher level – how do we adjust a reading for precession?

  26. Funny you should mention that now Rob, I was just thinking about that.

The stars precess forward through the zodiac at about 5 minutes every 6 years, or 1 degree eevert 72 years. The exact figure if you want to get technical is one I use from Planets in Transit, Robert Hand, 2001, p.30. “The mean rate of 50.2675 seconds per year”

So if you are 50 years old:

    50 X 50.2675 seconds = 2513.4 seconds.

divide that by 60 to get 41.9 minutes.

When using this method to find the fixed stars in your chart, work out the precession value between you birth and the constellationsofwords.com/stars/Stars_in_longitude_order.htm , then add those minutes to your natal chart positions. What you are doing here is precessing your chart forward with the stars to the year 2000.

  27. @Jamie Funk
thanks – thats really helpfull – is there any software that does the hardwork for us!?

  28. SolarFire does this but it’s very expensive. I have a google to see if there is anything free online.

  29. YES! I have used this one before and it’s great. It has all the stars and asteroids, calculates precession and has a great visual of the night sky from where you are at the exact time. Then you can nip outside and see it for real and know what you’re looking at! You will have to double check those precession features come with the free version.

cheers! just found ZET too!! will investigate – money not so much the object re software – its my ancient mac thats the stumbling block (love her to def tho) so wondering if Solarfire will interface with 2003 op system: OS X 10.3.9

  31. I’ll get Marina to answer that one, she is running SolarFire on her Mac but had to fiddle with something.

  32. Hi Rob. You needs to use another program like parallels and THEN install Windows XP (or newer) onto the Mac. I think Parallels only runs on intel Macs. I tried to install it on my Mac mini downstairs which IS intel and running Tiger OX 10.4. But it wouldnt let me do it. But have no idea why not. Maybe
I didnt have enough HD space. Parallels eats up memory also.

I love Macs but its a real pain that if you want decent Astro Software you really need a PC or the latest top speed Macs. I had time passages for Mac, but its useless for fixed stars or anything more than bog standard Astrology. Ask around tho, there might be other ways apart from Parallels.

  33. @Marina
    Hi Marina,
    weeell,maybe I should have defined,,Asc is 29 pis & Mars/Black Moon/Uranus are 1 Aries,
    Sun 13, (opp Saturn)
    Jupiter/Moon 15, &
Mercury 23 Aries – all in the 1st.

My Natal Jupiter 00Aries is conjunct SR Asc.

Solar Arc Directed Jupiter conjuncts Solar Arc MC @ 16 Taurus…on my birthday in the transit list.

Venus chiron & Neppy inthe 12th ( natal venus & Chiron conjuct vice versa , close enough)
    & pluto in 10th, Saturn in 7th.
I dont have all the fixed stars showing – not sure if my version of solar fire has them? It looks very lopsided & powerful, just how ? Im optomisticly waiting to see!!
    Cheers Jen

  34. Marina, So the 1 degree orb would make it so scheat is or isn’t on my 1 mercury?

If it is on does would I consider scheat also part on the t-square?

And do my grand trines benefit here?

    Thanks once again,

  35. @Jamie
Hi Jamie, Ive never tried Precessed Solar Returns? That changes everything?! It switches my sun from the 4th to the 8th this year..have been tring to find a home AND sharing resources…will have to do some more home work to investigate.
Next year, puts that stellium & Sun in the 4th & Pluto in the 1st…still indicating a personal transformation..
    Thanks for that!
    Cheers Jen

  36. I want to determine where Scheat is in my natal chart, as I have survived a tsunami, a flashflood, and an engine fire. I also have a great great grandmother who was shipwrecked off the coast of Panama and survived it, only to catch another ship, and have the engine catch on fire. She was an orphan heading out west in the gold rush via ship, and she managed to survive both. Scheat is conjuncting Uranus and Jupiter in my 4th house/Pisces on my birthday today, in opposition to my Virgo 10th house sun (on the day of my solar return no less.) It has been an intense day already, and for months I have been feeling this is going to be a big year for me, especially in relationship to my father. I went to astro.com to see where Scheat is in my natal chart, but doesn’t seem to be an option. Any pointers on how to locate it?

    • Hi Grace, amazing life experience you have. Those theme’s sound very Scheat related. I had an intense time yesterday too as my Sun is 29 Virgo.

In the year 2000, Scheat was 29 Pisces 22. Stars move forward through the zodiac at 5 minutes every 6 years, or one degree every 72 years. So Scheat is going to be about 29 degrees Pisces in your chart.

      • My sun is 26 Virgo 54, and my Pluto is 1 Libra 43. What is the orb of influence of Scheat, as it seemed to be impacting both planets yesterday in it’s opposition? Given this conjunction happened on my solar return, am I to brace myself for more in the coming year? I keep getting that this is my year to ‘get free’ of a lot of things from the past. I also keep getting that it’s a year of focused creativity to express the impact of the past. 29 Pisces for my Scheat placement would put it in close opposition natally to my sun (and my Pluto), which makes sense. It would also place Scheat in my 4th house, where much of my suffering and hardship has originated from, and would explain the family lineage to Scheat that I see. This star, I am learning, is a doozy. I have experienced so many crazy experiences in proximity to violence, death, catastrophe and loss. Yet they have all been initiations, for sure. Thanks for your feedback.

  37. So easy to judge what you haven’t taken the time to study or comprehend. We are made up of mostly water, and the moon influences the tides of the ocean, a woman’s menstrual cycle (28 days, same as the moon), as well as our moods. And yes, this has been looked into by the religion of science (and yes, it’s a belief system also). Why would we assume that if the moon holds that much influence over us, that the other planets do not also? Astrology has been around for a very long time, and ancient civilizations, like the Mayans for example, were far more sophisticated in their astronomy and astrology then most modern cultures. It’s just earth energies, nothing more, that we are a part of, and influenced by. People have been studying it for a very long time, in relationship to human experience and behavior. Of course one can overlay that with all sorts of belief systems like past lives, and karma, and did we choose this or is it random. But astrology at it’s core is just the study of planetary influences on human experience and behavior.

  38. p.s. I should also add that while I have had crazy experiences, I am awakening to my creative potential right now, and building a foundation to support it’s manifestation. I feel this year is about getting free of what has held me back from living the creative life I have dreamed of…

  39. About Scheat in natal: have it myself very close to my Asc.
Worked both in the airplanes for a short perion of time and on the ships now for quite a long time. No catastrophies. It’s always quiet sea when I’m on the ship… thinking that they should pay me some bonus for that (but they don’t) 🙂

  40. I’m an actor with mid heaven at 29 pisces.

It gets an direct square from uranus (capricorn) in my 6th house, and an direct sextile from my jupiter in (taurus) 11th house.

When Jupiter and Uranus aligned in june 2010, I got a guest spot on a television show.

The night they aligned again in September I was playing a smaller role in a Steven Speilberg production.

    I anticipate 2011 with glee.

    • Fantastic to hear your story Nathan, Big (Jupiter) breakthoughs (Uranus) for career (Midheaven). Excellent! That’s the really positive creativity of Scheat working for you. The 2011 Jupiter Uranus copnjunction is trine Venus so hopefully some financial goodies coming for you.

  41. I have the fifth house cusp (Placidus) on scheat…

Does this mean in any way that I will not create any thing and there is a problem if I have childrens, Sex also and fun in general?

    please advise.

    Tarek
    Alexandria, Egypt.

    • A lot of people with this star in their charts are very creative, as they have said in their comments here. It is the positive of this star.

    • House cusps and stars don’t figure, and even if they did you would most probably not have it there using another house system so I really wouldn’t worry.

      • Thanks Jamie and Marina, Although your words make me feel kinda of safe but I really have problems having fun.. I am still searching for a logical definition of fun, I am not creative(I didn’t create any thing) also, And I have no children plus I think I don’t like them I see them in public as a sort of noise… I am 33 I am still single in a social culture that I should be married .. And have childrens too… But this is not a peoblem for me… Also my sex life is not constant and irritating, I mean always includes problems associated…
Ammmm. I think I need help.

  42. How can a star 200 light years away (2,000,000,000,000,000 kilometers) have any effect on weather on Earth? Why do floods and bad hurricanes happen when Scheat is not “conjunct” Jupiter or Uranus?

    • Same answer I gave you on Noel’s Forum before you got banned:

“The number and severity of floods this years can be grouped in two distinct timeframes associated with Jupiter and Uranus on Scheat. Of all the fixed stars it is Scheat which is most associated with bad weather, very specific for this star. For constellationsofwords.com/categories/WEATHER.html, Scheat is the ONE singled out for floods. It is also assocated with catastrophies. The research proves it and now so do these recent dramatic events. I looked into the history back in January. The mythology, the interpretation from fixed star experts all say the same thing.

“The constellation portends events concerning ships and the ocean and also changes in the weather.”

“It (Scheat) causes extreme misfortune, murder, suicide, and drowning.”

“(Scheat) Tied up with ‘malefics’, this could lead the native to lose his life in catastrophes, such as floods, shipwreck, mining accidents, airplane accidents, or maybe suicide.” “‘

  43. Hi Jamie and all,
I just found this interesting debate, about Uranus on Scheat. I was curius to see who- in my database has any planet in the last degrees of Pisces, thus fit the formula.
    The first to pop up was Adolf Eichman with Sun on Scheat,Castro has his Uranus return, right on this star,Heath Ledger’s Mercury+Mars here, died on his Saturn return.; Hillery Clinton’s Moon in here, (29.12 Pisc); Huan Carlos’ Saturn on 29.24 Pisc; Marilyn Monroe’s Uranus,the Pope’s Mercury+ Uranus is here,- he has his Uranus return;
    Super interesting!

    • Thanks for that Gabriella, Heath’s chart sounds like an interesting one to investigate.

  44. Heath Ledger born April 4, 1979 in Perth, Au. died 28 years later, on 22 Jan 2008.At the time I wrote my article about him, I did not use the fixed stars. On the day of his death Jupiter was in opposition to his Moon – releaser of the soul, and t.Mars squared Mercury ( releaser of the body/Mars.(head) the rumor was, he died of over dose of pain-killers, also he was filming and could not fall asleep for days.
I have another question. If Uranus is on Scheat now, where is it on the A.C.G. map? I have Uranus on DSC. right on South Yemen, & on Vancover.

    • I’m not clued up on astrocartopgraphy myself, not sure if SolarFire has that function. I am very interested though. At the moment, Uranus on Scheat is squre the December lunar eclipse degree, and the lunar nodes. I’ve written about it in the March Forecast: http://darkstarastrology.com/free-march-2011-horoscopes-forecast/ Looking for the spiritual influence and especially the general strike link I found in this blog. Certainly a lot of protests around at the moment. Will be very interested to see how it ties into the A.C.G. map (I got me some learning to do!)

      • OK, just did the astro-world map chart on astro.com for the 3rd of March 2011, Uranus conjunct Scheat. Uranus MC runs between Benghazi and Triploli in Libya. What does a planetary MC mean in these charts, does this mean Scheat and Uranus are culminating over Libya?

      • yes, of course SF has it- search for the globe near the cup with the angles…But I got for March 3, Uranus MC on Brazil,Uranus setting on Jordan…

        • Thanks, worked it out now on SF. Bit confused at the moment, 4am here. Too many lines! Thanks though for pointing me in this direction.

          • Probably you also have Solar Maps- if you have SF.
            not too many lines there..
            4am… lots of research…. 🙂
