Castra Astrology

Fixed star Castra has the spectral type B2, indicating the planetary nature of Jupiter.

Castra is located in the Tail of the Seat-Goat. Noonan says Robson’s malevolent interpretation is wrong because he said it was in the belly of the goat. Robson did give it a Saturn-Jupiter nature which Ptolemy used for the Tail, but his interpretation does sound like Ptolemy’s classification for the belly of Mars-Mercury. Rigor incorrectly gives the spectral type as G9.

Based on the true spectra of B2, Castra gives a fondness for power, great authority, the ability to command, martial honors, kingly preferment, victory over enemies, liberality and cosmopolitan views. High honors, wealth and renown are possible. It also gives a higher spiritual nature but few can respond. The star’s variability dilutes this positive nature by adding loquacious, changeable, rash, and headstrong. [2]

CASTRA. ε Capricorni. A small yellow-orange star. Spectral class G9 in the belly of the Goat. This star imparts to its natives high public preferment, name and fame – good or bad; leadership ability, chronic, difficult-to-diagnose or possibly serious illness, violence and self-destruction. [2]

CASTRA. ε Capricorni. A small star in the Goat’s Belly. Of the nature of Saturn and Jupiter. It gives malevolence, destructiveness, an uncontrollable temper. [3]

The star Castra is of beneficial influence, although some modern astrologers such as Robson mistake this star as being in the belly (of the goat) and thereby gave it a malevolent nature. [4]

The name for ε Capricorni, Castra, means a military camp or a Fortress. (The British towns with caster or chester in their name were once Roman fortresses). [5]

Fixed star Castra rules the front of the right leg 4 inches below the knee. [6]

Constellation Capricornus

Ptolemy’s observations are as follows “The stars in the horns of Capricorn have efficacy similar to that of Venus, and partly to that of Mars. The stars in the mouth are like Saturn, and partly like Venus: those in the feet and in the belly act in the same manner as Mars and Mercury: those in the tail are like Saturn and Jupiter.” By the Kabalists this constellation is associated with the Hebrew letter Yod and the 10th Tarot Trump “The Wheel of Fortune.” [3]

Capricorn has a great influence over human affairs portending major changes in such areas as climate and political customs. Along with the sign, the constellation is also noted as the “Mansion of Kings”. Unfavorably situated with regards to lunar eclipses, it indicated major storms, especially at sea. [4]

Mars conjunct Castra (2° orb): This position affects the health. This point causes damage to the bone structure of the right leg. There is pressure at this point that also brings about a chemical change which dissolves the bone, thus causing a ripple effect on the bone structure through the loss of calcium. Later in life, the leg can be shortened somewhat; however, the real problem to the individual is the hot, flashing pain they experience when walking. The pain is sporadic and directly related to the anxieties of the person. Impatience and anxiety are keywords here. The high energy factor at this point can not only affect the bone structure, but also the muscle tissue next to the bone. They can become quite impatient and irrational because of the pain they experience, so that the head is affected. Sharp pains can be felt from the leg to the head. Temper tantrums and irrational behavior is often the result, along with shouting and hostility towards others. These individuals need to apply cool packs to the leg four times per day. Cool teas, such as spearmint and peppermint should be consumed, as well as cool packs consisting of these herbs. Parsley should be taken daily as it will help soothe the area. The diet must include calcium, or calcium taken in small doses every day. Biofeedback would be an excellent therapy for these natives as it will help slow the deterioration of the bone structure through the mental process. Stressful pain is often felt by these natives by the time they reach the age of thirty-five. [6]
