Sirius at 14°04′ Cancer has an orb of 2°50′
The Sun joins Sirius on July 5
Fixed star Sirius, Alpha Canis Majoris, is the brightest star in the sky. It is situated in the neck of Canis Major, the Greater Dog. It is almost twice as bright as Canopus, the next brightest star.
Sirius is a binary star. The main component has an apparent magnitude of −1.46 and the spectral type A0mA1 Va. The companion is a faint white dwarf with a magnitude of +8.44 and spectral type DA2. [1]
Sirius. From the ancient Greek name Σείριος, the “Scorching One, or Brilliant One,” appropriate for this brightest of the fixed stars. Reapplied in Renaissance times. [2]

Sirius Astrology
Fixed star Sirius is colored white with the spectral class A0, indicating the planetary nature of Venus. However, Ptolemy said it was red and gave it a Jupiter-Mars nature. Anonymous (379 AD) [3] said it has a Mars nature.
The astronomer Ptolemy of Alexandria, who wrote the Almagest, the only surviving comprehensive astronomical treatise from the 2nd century CE, described Sirius as “The [star] on the mouth, brightest, called ‘the Dog,’ and reddish.” He depicted Sirius as one of the six reddish stars, along with Aldebaran, Antares, Arcturus, Betelgeuse and Pollux. The other five stars all appear orange or red and have the spectral types K or M, while Sirius is a class A star, appearing white or blue-white in color, which spurred a debate that has not yet come to a unified conclusion. As this was not the only ancient reference to Sirius’ redness – the orator Cicero, philosopher Seneca and poet Aratus also called the star red, among others – and it is not very likely that Sirius simply changed its color from red to bluish-white within such a short period of time, this remains an unresolved mystery. To confuse things further, there are also many ancient texts calling the star white. [1]
SIRIUS. α Canis Majoris. A binary star, brilliant white and yellow, situated in the mouth of the Greater Dog. From Seiros, Sparkling or Scorching, or according to some authors from the Egyptian god Osiris. Among these people it was also Thoth and Sothis, and formed the basis of the Sothic period of chronology. The Chinese knew it as Teen Lang, the Heavenly Wolf, and said that when unusually bright it portended attacks from thieves.
According to Ptolemy it is of the nature of Jupiter and Mars and, to Alvidas, of the Moon, Jupiter and Mars. It gives honor, renown, wealth, ardor, faithfulness, devotion, passion and resentment, and makes its natives custodians, curators and guardians. It also gives danger of dog bites, and two examples of this effect will be found under Procyon.
Sirius is one of the 15 Behenian Fixed Stars. Its image is a hound or a little virgin. It gives honor, the goodwill and favor of men and the airy spirits, and the power to pacify nobles and others. Rules beryl, savine, mugwort, dragonwort and the tongue of a snake. [4]
SIRIUS. α Canis Majoris. A binary, white and yellow star. The main star belongs to spectral class A l. It has a companion star, Sirius ‘B,’ a white dwarf star that rotates around the main star every 50 years. This is a dwarf star having 90,000 times the density of our Sun. Sirius has twice the diameter of our Sun and is 9 light years distant.
The native is ambitious, loves to exercise ‘power,’ and has a grandeur of outlook. Good for business prosperity, custodial guardian, honors, wealth, and renown. Native receives favors from superiors and friends. Questionable writings, speeches, and statements could bring latent honors. Negatively: Native is subject to problematical actions, accusations, just or unjust. [5]
The astrology of Canis Major is really that of the Dog star, Sirius. Without a doubt this brightest star in the night sky is one of the most important objects in the heavens, even rivaling the Sun and Moon in its influence. The Roman farmers sacrificed to Sirius a fawn-colored dog at their three festivals when the Sun began to approach Sirius (merdinal culmination). In Persia its name meant “Creator of Prosperity” and the Egyptians considered Sothis a “favorable star”, especially in its mutatine rising with the Sun. The Dog star is also at the vertices of the two triangles that mark the Egyptian constellation “X”. This constellation of two trines is formed by the star Procyon (α-CMi), Betelgeuse (α-Ori). Naos (ζ-Pup), and Phact (α-Col). As each of these stars is favorable in its own peculiar way, the grouping of a grand trine must be considered extremely propitious. In early astrology, wealth and renown was the happy lot to all those born under the influence of Sirius. This star is also said to give faithfulness and devotion and to make its natives guardians and custodians to those they serve.
In later classical times this star and its constellation earned the evil reputation of so many Venusian stars. This was due in part to the ancient Egyptian practice of predicting the fortunes of the ensuing year from the helical rising of the star—a dim star presaging hard times ahead.
Chinese astrologers asserted that Sirius portended attack from thieves, and Jewish astrologers held the star in abhorrence, probably due to the fact their former masters worshipped it. (Leviticus xvii:7 has been interpreted to refer specifically to Sirius and Procyon.) Hippocrates made much in his Epidemics and Aphorisms of this star’s power over the weather and its consequent effect on the physical well-being of mankind. Some of these theories were current in medicine in Italy even during the eighteenth century. The superstitions attributed the midsommer heat to the “dog days” of Sirius and claimed that dog bites were the result of the star’s influence. A belief in the evil influence of the Dog star goes back even before recorded history. Homer wrote”
… for Sirius’ burning breath
Taints the red air with favors, plagues and death.
But the more reasonable ancient meteorology claimed that a mutatine setting or a vespertine rising at the full Moon preceding the winter solstice portends an uncommonly cold winter. [6]
Well-connected, it promises fame, honors and riches. According to tradition, Sirius will give a famous death with honors beyond the grave, if positioned in the 8th house. In good aspect with Mars and Jupiter and close to the MC, promise is given of gaining extensive wealth, a lucky hand in commercial enterprise or matters of government. This star so placed is most excellent for military, lawyers and civil servants. Sirius in conjunction with the Sun and well placed in the chart will be found to be the case with numerous important and famous personalities. Possibly, the rise in station is made possible by protection from people of influence. [7]
Sirius marks immense creative talents in any field at all with ‘only’ the warning that there may be more inner power than can be safely managed. Harshly aspected it can show a psychotic person truly a menace to himself and the community, but in better condition we have here the star of the truly Great figures in every field of human endeavor. [8]
Fixed star Sirius rules the nipple of the right breast. [9]
Constellation Canis Major
Ptolemy states that the stars of this constellation, with the exception of Sirius, are like Venus. It is said to give good qualities, charity and a faithful heart, but violent and dangerous passions. There is some danger from, or fear of, darkness and the night, and liability to dog bites, though the latter characteristic is probably associated more particularly with Sirius. Canis Major is connected by the Kabalists with the Hebrew letter Tzaddi and the 18th Tarot Trump, “The Moon”. [4]

Mars conjunct Saturn conjunct Sirius: These are persons who extend their ego into their children’s actions one day, and the next day, withdraw their support for what their children may be doing so that there would be an ego change back and forth. This affects the hormones on the diaphragm causing and overactive and underactive energy flow, so that the person feels energetic at times and ready to collapse at other times. Ultimately, a total restriction of energy would result, causing them to feel extremely tired. Consumption of oranges helps to balance the energy and oranges should be an important part of the diet. What about Sirius with nodes? My North Node is there, squared by Saturn.
For the Nodes with the fixed stars, you can combine the interpretation for Sun and Moon,
I have just read your article on “Sirius Star-Sparkling,” and it is fascinating. I was realy interested in the Dendereh Zodiac. “In Egypt it(Sirius) was Sothis, and is depicted with Jupiter in the Dendera Zodiac, as Jupiter was conjunct Sirius during the solar eclipse of 51 BC, the day that Cleopatra’s father died.” The day Cleopatra’s father died, interests me. Having read “Cleopatra-A Life” by Stacy Schiff, I know that when he died, Cleopatra immediately became queen-ata a very young age. The eclipse would be the start of her reign, more or less. Jupiter is highly relevant-she was a very skilled politician-an optimist and survivor, with a flair for oratory and drama, generous, and for a long time, very very lucky. She spoke 9 languages, and was very much a part of the intellectual life of Alexandria. Of course, we don’t know her birth sign-it was likely Capricorn or Aquarius. But it’s amazing to get that little bit of astrological insight and flavour of events long ago provided by the Dendereh Zodiac, and the 51 BC. eclipse. Do you know the date of that eclipse?
Fixed stars and eclipses might be relevant to the Republican nomination. Do any of the main hopefuls have strong fixed star placements in their charts? One gets the impression that in spite of changes in political systems, the old planetary characterisations still hold true.
You’ve caught the same bug as me. Yes I have researched those eclipses a lot. The eclipse dates are on the wiki Dendera zodiac page.
So in your case, success in business after much hard work and possible delays in getting there.
Thanks a lot! It makes sense because I worked for almost 10 years as a teacher for adults on very high business positions and hated it, it is not a profession I chose for myself, it was a series of unfortunate events. I think I am done with that and I hope my next job will be in entertainment industry, meaning I am done with delays.
Einstein had this on the ASC
And Mercury CON Saturn opposite to Zaniah, which doesn’t make much sense. Oppositions are supposed to be hard….
Only conjunctions are used in fixed stars astrology.
Fixed stars actually work on the 90° dial.
Very interesting. Do you have an example?
Thanks for that Jo. This will be useful when I come to update these fixed stars posts. I would like to add celebrities and also any other good information which people contribute.
Sirius conjunct NN and Orcus?
Hi Raili, I have not studied Orcus. With the Nodes, you can combine the interpretations of the Sun and the Moon conjunct Sirius.
‘Just found your site! My natal Cancer Uranus is 15 (9th); my Cancer MC is 18 (10th) The Uranus conjuncture with Sirius rings totally true for me… all of it. I appreciate your great information!
Thanks for the feedback, very usueful.
I have it exact my Asc, Trine to my MC in Pisces.
Nice, do you think it is as beneficial as we would expect?
I would say overall, I have been lucky. As far as money goes, I play the lottery and win (mostly free plays, $10-20).
Hi Jamie ,
A great website you made. I wanted to ask if you could give a more spiritual perspective on star constellations. I know that all celestial objects all in actual living entities which are developing themselves cycle after cycle.
I’m greatly interested about some background information of stars as Sirius, Pleiades, Ursa major – how they came into being and they will eventually become in the end. I mean humans and spiritual living entities are on a road to self mastery and perfection. What is the end result everyone is walking towards? Is it true that duality can o only be exp experienced on earth??
Wow, good question Lawrence. Everything came from the big bang so everything from the stars to our DNA has an energetic link. Now the scientists say that prodding one subatomic particle will affect another linked one over vast distances faster than the speed of light. This would be one more explanation of how astrology works through the Stars and Planets, but not Signs and Houses. We once called the stars angels. messengers of the Gods. But I think it is more likely that the planets act as conduits for energy emanating from the stars. Iron is an excellent conductor of electromagnetic energy. The massive single crystal of Iron in the earth’s core is an excellent conductor of the ever-changing mix of energies from the stars via the planets. Iron in our bodies will feel the changing dynamic in the core.
Hi, I have Sirius conjunction MC by less than one degree. I feel I have potential but I am usually confused about my life’s direction…and I haven’t got any of the “fame and honors” regarding my career. But at least gives me hope!
Hi David. I hope you remember to come back with an update when your potential is realized. All the best!
Can you please give me some incite to Sirius Paran ones Jupiter at 23 Degree Cancer ,
I have never studied these Stars in Astrology it is a fascinating addition and I hope to learn more.
From what I have gathered a Star Paran a planet 45 degree angle is powerful or is the Aspect only powerful when on the actual angles of the horoscope ?
Also while I have you here and might as well pick your brain would a transiting moon paran ones natal Jupiter be good for gambling ? or would pluto be better ? The whole Paran 45 degree aspect has my brain in a actual uproar. to be honest , square for action so it does make rational sense.
Ps, Keep up the good work on the site .
Sorry Angela, I don’t use parans, only conjunctions by longitude appear relevant to me.
Hi, I have an unaspected Sun conjunct Lilith and Sirius, and I cannot find any information on what Lilith brings to that combination. Just curious. Thank you.
All I can suggest is read the description for Moon with Sirius and make it a bit darker.
Ok! My Moon is 1 degree Aries in the eighth house. That looks a bit like a loose conjunction to Sheat. I have always felt that I would die “in motion”… as in an accident or a fall… I have been told to stay away from deep water voyages, and I have two beautiful very large dogs. Ha! My interest in my Natal Chart is leading me to weird places. Thanks for the suggestion.
Jamie, what about opposition to Sirius? This October 2016, we will see transit Pluto Capricorn and transit Mars Capricorn (conjunct one another) opposite Sirius conjunct the USA’s natal Sun in Cancer.
Interesting question Rav. I think Mars Pluto on Vega will keep it’s own energy apart from Sirius. The exception would be if a planet were to align with Sirius. You do need a planetary conjunction to activate the energy of a star.
This makes sense, Katie Couric’s Midheaven at 13′ Cancer would conjoin the USA’s Sun and Sirius, tho 11:55 pm time is not verified. From Astro.com: “COURIC: In the night. I was born almost at midnight. I almost didn’t make it. I was almost the eighth [of January].”
http://www.astro.com/astro-databank/Couric,_Katie
Tx for the article 🙂
Thanks for this too Lisa. I am eventually going to add celebrities to these pages for each planet and AC, MC.
Susan Boyle’s Mars is at 13′ Cancer, it makes sense her success was delayed because she also has Venus square Saturn
She also had Pluto conjunct Part of Fortune transit when she shot to fame. Worth keeping an eye on that transit. I had it when my first astrology website became successful.
What’s so bad about Venus square Saturn? I understand it inhibits romantic expression, but I wasn’t aware of any major effects on general ‘success’?
(curious because I have that aspect in addition to Sun conjunct Sirius)
Venus square Saturn can hinder success if it leads to depression. Sun on Sirius will overpower that effect to an extent, depending on how tight the orb of aspect is.
What about it conjunct the IC? I have my IC weirdly enough exactly at 14’05 Cancer. Chiron is at 13’12 cancer
Perhaps well bred or born into a wealthy or successful family. A caring and loyal family. This may only apply to one specific parent. Chiron there is a bit weird and suggests some karmic pain linked to the family or ancestors. Maybe some tragedy affecting a whole generation. If linked to Pluto then even a genetic disorder.
I was born into I think a lucky and wealthy family. I do have Pluto at 12’32 in Scorpio actually, don’t know if that’s strong enough. I only knew about Chiron there before. Do you think it could represent bringing the two ancestor sides together?
Opposite the MC, will it affect my career or not at all?
I also have Jupiter widely conjunct at 3 Cancer and I thought that was too wide but reading the description it kind of fits too with the family ties theme
You definitely have Pluto sextile MC and this is good for both a promising career and higher development of family ties.
Fixed stars only work in conjunction so your MC is not affected by Sirius, but the fixed star Vega.
The I.C/ nadir not only applies to ancestry matters but in applying fixed stars to a natal chart it also represents the end of the matter, end of life, life work we are remembered for. Any star conjunct the i.c will manifest its energy in old age & hidden. Think of roots of a tree or plant; they are buried beneath. Also Sirius is a very hot star & it’s energy provided must find an outlet or it “burns”. So maybe there is a “burning” issue that lies at the root of a family problem or has been inherited. It may affect you more consciously or be perceived by you on a more conscious level than the rest of your family. You may feel either an inner wounding from such which you may hide or it may take many years to realize a buried wounding within you.either way chiron being the wounded healer, may have picked you out of your family & assigned you the task of bringing the issue out into consciousness for healing for the family. Maybe because you feel it more deeply I don’t know. Maybe there is no family issues but instead in your latter years you get involved with some kind of healing field of work in which you have an opportunity to be well known for either among your family or community, or status. Cancer is a nurturing sign it may be a healing career either of a cancerian or Capricornic nature. With sirius being such a powerful star in our universe, the effort applied could bring gain for good or I’ll much greater than you’d expect. So for best results have a PURE UNSELFISH intention /effort rather than a selfish one or the result could get you ” burned”. Just a thought take it or leave it.
My natal Sun is conjunct Sirius.
I was wondering if anyone knows what the interpretation means when it states in the ‘Sun conjunct Sirius’ section:
“If rising or culminating, kingly preferment.” ?
I have researched the matter a bit because I see it in other interpretations as well. Yet, I do not understand what the ‘Rising’ and ‘Culminating’ can possibly mean. Since there are very few sources on fixed star interpretations besides the book cited on this website, I am stuck.
Could ‘Rising’ mean positioned at the beginning of the orb, and ‘Culminating’ mean towards the end of the orb, sort of like a cusp at the beginning and end of the orb?
But there is also very little information about the orb of the fixed stars, and from what I have gathered in my research, a 2’40 degree orb for the brightest star in the sky (Sirius) is radically underestimating its astrological influence. It seems that up to 6 degrees may exert a sizeable influence, but the orb is certainly greater than 2’40 degrees. Since this is the case, it would be difficult to determine what ‘Rising’ and ‘Culminating’ mean in the context of a fixed star, since the exact orb is up for debate.
Can anyone well-versed in medieval astrological vernacular help me out on this one?
Rising mean on Ascendant, culminating means on Midheaven
How do I find out where Sirius is in my chart please?
Make you free chart here and see if there is anything within a few degrees of 14 Cancer.
ohhh about the metal.. i recieve msgs about the metal a while ago hehe cool.. thanks 🙂
Great Vincent. I had wondered about this part of Sirius.
Hi Jamie, would you say i have Sirius conjunct the ascendant if it is 3 degree’s apart in the 12th house?
If so, what would be your interpretation of Sirius rising?
Cheers 🙂
I don’t think so Lakota. The suggested orb of 2°40′ is being generous. Probably Canopus?
Hello! I have a Sirius conjunct Descendant/ opposite Ascendant exact (orb 0 04”). I was wrapping my head about the possible meanings of that. Is it about a partner who’s known? Attraction towards ” famous” people?
Thank you!
Yes, could be. The DC can also be seen as you inner man (for a woman) or inner woman (for a man), or what you ideally want in a partner, if not exactly what you get in a partner. It could also mean that you partnerships, intimate and business, are very successful. Also, think about the general influence of Sirius as “custodians, curators and guardians”.
Well my crush hasn’t stopped, it intensified. What a cruel thing to have sirius on descendant as well as a venus square saturn and chiron in 7th house. No chance in hell whatsoever with my celeb crush so there’s that. Here’s to hoping the same traits, quirks and personality that I like so much about them would be similar to someone from real life that can meet and connect with. Else I’ll just die alone, I guess.
I have Sirius conjunct my MC, which is exactly trine to Jupiter in Pisces. Interestingly when Pluto opposed my MC I had to deal with a former mentor attacking me at work because she felt like I rose too far too fast and resented me for it. Luckily the turbulence has blown over now, but it was very difficult to deal with at the time. (I see that you mention the potential for resentment with Sirius.)
Also when my progressed Moon was conjunct MC/Sirius earlier this year, I received a lot of praise and attention for an extra-curricular project I did at work. I haven’t had an easy life necessarily, but since reaching adulthood I seem to succeed at my academic/career endeavors in ways that get me noticed.
Thanks for the article — it’s very helpful!
Thanks for the feedback too Rachel.
What would Work is conjunct North Node mean?
Hi Rose. For the Nodes with fixed stars I always combine the interpretation for the Sun and Moon. So success in business seems to be your karmic path.
I mean what would Sirius conjunct North Node mean?
what would you consider a proper orb for Sirius? And what would Mercury square Neptune signify to you? I always considered this aspect to be troublesome mentally and associated with psychological problems as well as the deceiver?
What does this mean? Sirius in the first house in cancer, with Pluto trine, a square with lilith, conjunction with mars, opposition with saturn and neptune… thank you 🙂
I have Sirius conj my Jupiter in the 4th, which is the ruler of my midheaven. I do not feel close family ties. Nor, do I have a lot of financial success ( No planets in the 10th except for Juno).. With Jupiter in the 4th, I have worked for a real estate agent, have had Spiritual gatherings in my home, Done home health care and cleaned houses, (self employed). I do not tend to be career oriented. So, how can I relate to Sirius conj my Jupiter in a different way? Thanks.
Just wanted to clarify that “Sir” does not come from Sirius as stated in this article but from “Sire” ultimately derived from the latin for Senior.
Funny. I know my answer is a few years to late, but I just read, home, home, home 🙃 all you’ve done was connected to home. I am sure your access will be in this field and will come.
What if Sirius conjunct with the Sun and opposite the MC?
I have Sirius in 4. No rich family. But I like to spend a lot of time at home and work at home in a home office. AC aries.
I am libra.
My Mc is at 14’24” Cancer….having Mercury 17 Saturn 23 and the Sun 28 in Cancer holding hands. No high Office yet lol but I always get the vibe of people looking at me with a certain look….is that why I felt and feel like a Pincess in my life? Hahaha this princess loves to clean and cook and take care of everything no matter where she turns too. Just being a bit bratty I guess but I do not need tittles nor miss them but I feel a certain way and others get that vibe of me also…..Anyone else?
What about chiron conjunct sirius? my chiron is 14 degrees cancer. ty
I am curious a reply on this one as well 🙂
Hi Cheri ! Cancer and the 4th house have to do with nurturing , the mother , the home , as the place of refuge which you find comfort and emotional security. It also has to do with real estate.Chiron here would indicate a possible wounding in one of the areas I’ve just mentioned and an area that needs healing.I’m sorry to say that I can’t really define for you what this conjunction means.Maybe the things I’ve mentioned will give you some ‘ FOOD’ for thought , and you can apply it to some of the definition of sirius in this blog..
Anyone want to chime in ? Have a good day !♍
jamie what do martial affairs mean here
Things ruled by Mars like sport, sex, war, and business.
you mean to say sun conjunct sirius will favor a person in sex war and business and anything ruled by mars will be favored i have studied that after 30 people start to get great results from fixed stars which are on their sun and moon
still waiting for your response on my below comment
I have Mars at 14°? Cancer, conjunct my 3rd house, with asteroids Logic and Industria within 1°. I have two questions.
1. I am prone to forceful outbursts. What effect, if any, does Sirius add? Intensity?
2. Mars opposes Jupiter and Saturn (the Saturn aspect is tighter). Does the star affect these aspects as well?
Thank you for any light you can shed.
Hi Jamie
When is the heliacal rising of Sirius? And how can I look this up reliably, thanks! 🌟
Hi Katy. I think astro.com has some information on this. The only astrologer using this method is Bernadette Brady and I believe she sold her idea to them.
Sorry, but the link of the 22nd Chinese Xiu refers to the fixed star Tejat Posterior, not Sirius.
Yes, that is correct. Tejat Posterior marks the beginning of the 22nd mansion. Sirius sits within that mansion. It does not mark the beginning of a mansion. This is because Sirius is about 16° south of the ecliptic. The fixed stars used to mark the moon mansions all sit along the ecliptic (path of the Sun), or Moon in this case.
There’s so little online information about Sirius in the natal chart. Thanks a lot for this! I hold my heart for what’s about to come.. I have Sirius in my 10th house, 1 degree conjunct my IC. My moon/pluto conjunction trines it. My mercury/uranus/neptune conjunction on the IC are exactly opposite to the Sirius/MC. Since I heard the word sirius for the first time I felt I need to know more about this. Once I even saw my whole view in blue during the day, which now makes sense. And to be honest for my whole life I felt I have a world destiny. At the moment I’m working on several (audio)books which connect to the universal laws and the highest order of justis (which is different from justice). And what unconditional love in society is realy about. I can’t wait to spread my message for a wider audience and radiate as much love as I’m capable of.
Oh interesting Nicky. I also have Sirius on the MC (13 degree). The other aspects involved you find in my comment above. As a kid I used to behave like a authorative princess. Then got extremely anxious in my youth and now as a adolescent the feeling returns. I recognize the look people have at you. Lately someone I saw only 4 times said to me at our goodbye: I’ll see you at nieuwsuur’. Which is the Dutch TV journal. It was not part of the subject and i didn’t respond but on my way home it felt very weird xD. With you mercury Conjunct the communication must be involved in your case. Well maybe see you later at a UN conference or something haha :’)

Sirius conjunct my NN in 1H?
How is that? Same for the north node and the south one? It should be different I suppose.
Hello Jamie. what are your thoughts on Sirius being square the Moon? Sirius in the 12th and the Moon on the cusp of the 9th? Would love to hear your thoughts?
Hi Marie. I have read from various sources that fixed stars only work in conjunction. I have not researched it myself. But if a transiting planet were on Sirius, it would affect how you experience that square to your Moon.
May I ask Jamie, how about professed Sun @ 13 degrees Cancer about to conjunct Sirius over next few years in Natal 11th House? Thank you for your wonderful site and if you get opportunity to answer. John Henry
Jaime, do you have details on Sirius conjunct Chiron?
Hi there,
I have Ceres 14*06’ cancer (conjunct Serius) – can anyone tell me how that would play out. I can’t find anything about it.
With gratitude,
Anna
I have it conjunct my NN, too, but in the 8th, also 1 L Michele! XO
I have Sirius conjunct the Vertex in the 8th. I have no idea what this means, and don’t understand the Vertex very well.
Hi Crystal. I have not used the fixed stars with the Vertex Point. It is a calculated point using some complex three-demential formula I don’t understand. But it is a significant point, especially when comparing two charts. I can also act as a timing device.
The Vertex Point represents destiny encounters but also mystical experiences. The Vertex axis is a ‘doorway’ that gives access to other realities. It can open to many different worlds. It can describe that which delights, which gives a touch of magic to life as well as that which can bring terror and horror. The Vertex axis tends to intensify anything with which it has contact. You can read more here.
Aha! Found something! “If the Vertex is conjunct and/or parallel a fixed star it indicates a connection to the Galaxy through that Star system.”

Great find. Thank you!
Hello Jamie, Thanks for writing about Sirius. I have it conjunct my midheaven at 13 Cancer, square my Mars on my descendant at 13 Aries and opposite my ascendant 13 Libra, ( & Uranus 8 Libra). I also have Saturn conjunct the Moon in Taurus opposite Jupiter, and Venus 27 conjunct the Sun (22 Aquarius). I can see how Sirius has been really influencing me, and I’ve always loved dogs. I was the one who researched and wrote our family history and I was born with artistic & musical abilities- I understand that I am a descendant of an Irish bard, so it seems I inherited the skills, and have added herbalism and science to it. I have enjoyed what you have written and shared.
