New Moon 20 September 2017 Love Hurts

New Moon September 2017 AstrologyThe new moon on Wednesday September 20, 2017 is at 27 degrees Virgo. The astrology of new moon September 2017 continues the theme of change that began with the total solar eclipse on August 21. The changes this time will be more like minor adjustments to your long-term goals or how you get there.

The September 2017 new moon will remind you of the most painful wounds you have suffered. In order to move forward you must begin focus on the healing process. This will involve adapting to unexpected changes or making adjustments to your longer term hopes and dreams.

New Moon Meaning

A new moon represents the end of one cycle and the beginning of another new 28 day cycle. Sun conjunct Moon gives an invigorating burst of energy and initiative. This is an excellent time for making a fresh start, turning over a new leaf or starting any new project.

All possibilities are on the table as you put yourself at the center of plans for your future. Old habits, behaviors and beliefs are questioned as you search for new and inventive ways to make progress.

The influence of the September 20 new moon influence lasts four weeks up to the October 19 new moon. The best time for making a fresh start and for beginning new projects is during the first two weeks of this new moon cycle. This waxing phase of the Moon lasts from September 20 to the October 5 full moon.

New Moon September 2017 Astrology

The new moon on September 20 is the first new moon since the total solar eclipse on August 21. Eclipses mark the beginning of a six-month phase with certain goals or aims.  Each new moon within the eclipse cycle represents a new stage of development of your long-term goals.

The aim of the August 21 solar eclipse was to make bold, confident changes that lead to long-term success. Determined and sustained effort will bring the growth and happiness you want. Positive change was predicted because the solar eclipse was trine Uranus.

The September 20 new moon quincunx Uranus means this new stage of development involves adapting to changing circumstances. Alterations to your original goal may be needed to make it more attainable. The new moon opposite Chiron means you must adjust your methods or expectations in response to your deepest and most painful wound.

September 2017 New Moon Aspects

Jupiter opposite Uranus often brings sudden events that release built up tension that in turn brings a major change in your circumstances. The more restricted you have felt, the more upsetting the change is likely to be.

You may feel like making a completely new start. But extreme change is harder for you and your loved ones to adjust to. This is especially so when partners or close friends and family are involved. You may also have to consider the financial ramifications of any big change.

You can find adventure and personal growth through travel, education and new relationships while still maintaining certain core responsibilities in your life. You can find creative and ingenious ways to relieve the boredom without causing total chaos and disruption.

Sun quincunx Uranus can make you nervous, tense and anxious. You will find it hard to relax as your intuition senses change or some drama on the way. Pressure to change might come from someone with power over you. An unexpected event, accident or change at work may force you to change your routine, behavior or plans.

It is important to be flexible and adapt to changing conditions. Try to go with the flow and fit in. If you resist change and become arrogant or disruptive you will suffer losses or miss out on good opportunities. You don’t need to totally change direction but to make careful adjustments.

Sun opposite Chiron makes you consciously aware of a karmic wound that can be so damaging and painful, it affects your will to live. The following quotes come from Wounding and the Will to Live by Liz Greene:

We may cry out that we want life; but somewhere inside, we want to go home, and this longing for oblivion may be more powerful than any conscious declaration of intent to “get better”… loss of the will to live may not always result in self-destruction. It may be expressed as the urge to destroy others…

…the polarity of hope versus despair, the will to live versus hopelessness, may be illuminated – at least in part – through the symbolism of the polarity of the Sun and Chiron. Those with the Sun in direct aspect to Chiron may know on a profound level how the unfairness of life can damage the spirit.

Liz Greene goes on to list the following keywords or themes for the Sun working against Chiron:

  • Depression
  • Loss of confidence
  • Sense of permanent damage
  • Cynicism
  • Expectation of failure
  • Sense of victimization or scapegoating
  • Desire to victimize or scapegoat others
  • Projection of inferiority on others
  • Loss of the will to live

New moon September 2017 may bring unexpected change to your life that makes you more aware of your deepest wound. In order to reach your long-term goals you will need to face the source of your pain. If the September 20 new moon makes your karmic wound more painful and debilitating, you will need to make some changes to your long-term goals.

  1. That one is scary but your post is so insightful! Should we notice all fixed starts or just the one closer to our planet (which I guess in my case it would be : “Fixed star Labrum at 26°55′ Virgo gives psychic power, intelligence, honor and riches in disgrace and purifies to salvation”).If that the case it gives some hope 🙂

My natal Saturn is at 27.02 (opposite my moon at 2.32). On one hand on that day I have a very important business meeting. It is related to the broken heart of one of the parties involved. Lot of responsibility on my shoulders….should I expect a professional wound due to Uranus at play? On the other hand this new moon will oppose the Venus of a person ….wondering how Chiron would play in conjunction with this Venus and opposite to my Saturn?!

Thank you for writing such stimulating posts!

  2. Is it going to get any better? Since 2011 Pisces have been taking a beating on three major fronts, health, home, and jobs.

  3. HI Jamie, I have to say that personally I feel positive about this one as my natal Uranus in my 8th is at 25 Libra, so Jupiter is conjuncting it and also then opposing my natal Chiron at 21 Aries in my 2nd course. I have bought lottery tickets! I’ve had a lot of wounding in my financial life and have done it tough for many years, being a serial entrepreneur, and now my businesses look like they are going to take off after years of toil. I have a new product launching around this new moon. Hoping it’s my businesses taking off and not inheritances happening as that would mean death, but with my Uranus in the 8th house, who knows!

  4. I’m a Capricorn with Virgo rising. I have struggles with finances and needing a partner that is 100% in my corner. I, too wonder will it get any better. Most Capricorns I know have been having a hard time for the last six years at least.

    • I hear that! Try being Cap with Sag rising. Saturn never lets you breathe! And I do not think the love planets know the address to any of my “Houses” except the ones that deal with budgets or taxes (and only then with 7 planets retro and several eclipses or something!) I often wish I was ANY sign except a Capricorn.

  5. Wow…There’s been some tough energy out there…I noticed that on 9/11, the moon was conjunct Sedna conjunct Algol…and the energy was just terrible..so terrible I had to come to the computer to see if I could find out the astrological reason for that. I think the moon is sometimes like a bullhorn…..relaying messages..

I am also watching the mars/mercury/Orchus conjunction that will be very exact on my BD Sept 18th ..Orchus has a dark reputation but there is also alot written that says that Orchus is the source of very high psychic connections.. I had Orchus conjunct my natal moon in 1986 and of and on in 1987…and it was a time of extreme enlightenment for me…I was filled with Love, and I felt like I understood everything I had incredible intellectually expansive downloads..The universe was explaining everything to me on mult bandwidth in real time…so if I was looking at a room …I could see that there was perfection and harmony with the people who lived there, the peopel who were there at the time, the date, the direction of the window, the color of the couch the colors people were wearing and the topic of their conversation..everything was incredibly masterfully perfect..and I felt no fear and overwhelming love. I think this was Orchus. Orchus has the reputation of BREAKING agreements and contracts like the European countries leaving the world bank. But I think what it does ..it causes a BREAK from the old confining reality.and if you can flow with it..it is a beautiful thing. I would say that I had a definite break with my old reality….and I lived in a wonderland..like walking everywhere and looking with Gods eyes and understanding with an immense intellect that is Vast in comparison..but it was living in me..and loving with a heart that is bigger than the state I was living in…I would love to stay like that forever..I was forever changed..
SO….this 18 or 19 the triple conjuction becomes perfect.
I would love to hear what you have to say on this topic. I am buying a book on Orchus…and I have a very fond feeling for this Plutino triplet…As my astro twin..I think you might have Sun conj Pluto and I bet you can understand this love for Pluto like planets? Transformation baby!! I think that Hagrid in Harry Potter is Pluto..he even has the three headed dog..and his home is far from the SUN (the middle of the castle and Dumbledore is the sun I think)… I LOVE HAGRID!! and he even LOOKS like Pluto..he is always there at big transformations for Harry..Guiding and protecting… I think that Professeur Quirrel is Mercury…I don’t know who Mars would be…Snape is Saturn right?

  6. Dear writer.

I wonder what happened to the precession?
How can this new moon be on the mentioned fixed stars, if there ocurred a shift of about 23 degrees, so that our zodiac signs do not cover the initial constellations? If I understood correctly it should be somewhere in the first 6/7 degrees Virgo. I missed the information considering the fixed stars with the last eclipse also.

I am somewhat confused. It is this site I look for the diffent influences from fixed stars in relation to our “fixed” zodiacsigns.

I hope this makes sense…. Very interested in a possible clarification or explanation how I misunderstood.

Thanks for your articles. A lovely day to all readers of theis message.

    • I use the tropical zodiac but also precession for fixed star positions and for transits. For example in the year 2000 the fixed star Regulus was positioned at 29°50′ Leo. Now it is located at 00°04′ Virgo. You could say the tropical zodiac has precessed backwards against the fixed stars. See Precession Astrology. I see the stars as a backdrop to the planets in a chart, not the 12 Sun Signs or any other artificial divisions or sectors or Houses with Lords and Rulers and Exceptions to every rule.

  7. Umm… the releasing might be linked to a sustained bout of repressed anger projected towards a car brand(!) back in ’04/’05. Bitter hatred and anticipative vengeance.

Am planning on kickstarting a side-hustle of income (as a replacement for something whose heyday was back then, now going phut..) no earlier than the 5th October full moon date. The idea/realization of impending necessity dawned on me around the 26th May new moon period and is gaining urgency now.

Would that be a good time for me to start off on this venture as a Sagittarius decan 3, born 19 Dec. ’72, 0240 hours, Jamie?

  8. Dear Jamie.

Tried the follow-up link in your answer. That doesn’t work, so here my thoughts about precession.

If I understood correctly this full moon is in “reality” -as in looking “behind”our fixed signs- situated between the fixed stars Phecda and Thuban at 0 and 7 degrees Virgo. Is this right?????

I am very much interested in this subject. That is why I ask whether I am correct in assuming this position would be about right with precession in mind. You drew my attention to this phenomenon…Hope you’re happy with that…:-)!

Thanks so much for answering!! Have a lovely day.

Petra Netherlands (do not specifically like the icon next to my message…Hahaha….)

  9. This read full of healing secrets of the universe was resonating, right down to even the last comments left of suppressed anger at the Sun surrounding them. I loved that there is protection and love always to the object of love from the Sun. It truly cannot be undone. Fascinating read! Astounding writer!

  10. Hi Jamie,

Do I have to read that New Moon as bad as the general definition you gave?

I mean, on my natal this one looks having a good potential regarding partnership or love.
    I have Sun&Moon conj my Vertex (~3deg)
    Venus conj my Natal Moon.
    Mercury sext Mercury.
    Venus sext Venus
(DOB 24/11/1986 2.20pm at Saumur, France).

I admit I look mainly the good transit than the bad ones, but that doesn’t look that bad no ?

Thank you in advance for letting me know a little bit more about the way to read a New/Full Moon (between general and personal reading).

    Jean

  11. Been unemployed for 10 months now. Feeling suicidal and depressed. Been interviewing like crazy since Virgo started and everyone has declined me. I dont know what to do with my worthless life. What was the point of even going to college?

  12. I’m curious … on my moon giant it says the moon will be void of course transitioning to Libra. So just a want to know, why does everything say the new moon is in Virgo?

  13. Jaime thank you for linking Liz Greene – so much introspect into a subject I never gave attention to. After discovering I have My Sun in Scorpio in the 2nd house trine with Chiron in Cancer in the 11th house, may I hear your quick thoughts on this please? I think it will give me some clues into the answers I’ve been looking for, for some time now…. Peace

    • Quick thoughts are that you only need consider Sun trine Chiron. Signs and Houses are purely symbolic and say so much that half of it sounds true to everyone. Sun trine Chiron I would think means you have to skills to help those with challenging Chiron aspects.

  14. Happy Birthday Jamie, way down under!! “Lang may your lum’ reek”! ????
Here in Toronto its still the 20th… We have the same birthday Sept 21.

I am under the unbelievable power of sun in opposition to Chiron. Until I read Liz Greene’s list I couldn’t put my finger on why I was feeling so much expectation of FAILURE. Like I’m wondering if I can pull myself out of this quagmire…
I am usually an optimist with moon Sagittarius rising. But Saturn is sitting on my ascendant once again and now Chiron the wounded healer is challenging my sun.

Powerful stuff from Liz Greene. Thanks for posting! Be well, Penelope.

  15. Amazing. What few sentences I skimmed over, this is a strong, direct message to me from my guides.

  16. Having my sun square Chiron, I can really understand and appreciate the quote from Liz Greene
