28 Brilliant and Illustrious Stars

Brilliant Stars

I have added more interpretations to my list of fixed stars. They come from the 28 “brilliant and illustrious stars” written anonymously in 379 AD. [1]

Most astrological interpretations are for the fixed stars conjunct Ascendant, Midheaven, Descendant, Imum Colei or Moon. For example, the Moon conjunct all 28 stars gives a “splendid and illustrious life; great, distinguished and opulent nature.”

The interpretations are then divided into groups of stars with the same planetary nature. For example, Spica and Vega are both like Venus and Mercury.

  1. FABULOUS, Jamie! My top favourite subject! Thank you so much…
I’ve noticed over the years that you’ve added lunar mansions to your interpretations. I find this gives an extra dimension to each star, it’s really very useful.
I have a special request (that I don’t think you’ll grant…). You know the way Wikipedia gives you a sort of time stamp at the end of each of their pages? Here is an example: “This page was last edited on 23 February 2023, at 23:51 (UTC)”. I suppose that would add too much to your workload.

    • Thank you, and that is a good idea. I update them regularly with new celebrities, but maybe I should just change the date with new interpretations.

  2. Hi Jamie. Can you explain to me what is a “fixed star”. Surely all stars are “fixed” from our view on Earth?
And why so many in Gemini? As a Gemini I’m inquisitive and have conjunctions with 8 in the above list.
    Thanks

    • Good Question Michael. The stars are “fixed” compared to the planets, which “wander”. The area around 22 Gemini in particular is the busiest part of the sky for major fixed stars. Just lucky I guess, for some.

  3. Hi Jamie,
Your site is fixed star “Gold” for information IMO…This is so much appreciated and what you provide has been very accurate in the natal charts I have studied…
    I do have one question…
Can the fixed stars be applied to progressed charting? Or any others such as Solar Return or composite charts? Do they apply as conjunctions only?
    Again…thank you
