New Moon May 19, 2023 – Evil Desires

New Moon May 2023 Astrology

The New Moon in Taurus on May 19, 2023, is sextile Mars. So the meaning of the New Moon May 2023 astrology is to draw on strength and courage to fulfill your most passionate desires.

However, the May 2023 New Moon is also linked to Jupiter square Pluto, the most significant planetary aspect this year. It gives intense drive and ambition but a tendency toward immoral or ruthless tactics to succeed.

This most complex New Moon horoscope has many linked aspects and fixed stars, creating an incredible amount of highly charged energy. You can harness that energy to achieve success, happiness and peace. But there is the danger that some will succeed in fulfilling their evil desires.

New Moon May 2023 Astrology

The New Moon on Friday, May 19, 2022, is at 28°25′ Taurus. The chart below shows it is directly aspected to Mars, Neptune and Pluto. These harmonious blue aspects are linked to three challenging red aspects. The resulting three related aspect patterns are discussed separately, starting with the most difficult, the red T-Square.

New Moon May 2022 Astrology

New Moon May 2022 Horoscope

New Moon May 2023 Meaning

Sun conjunct Moon represents the end of one cycle and the beginning of another new 28-day cycle, giving a refreshing burst of energy and initiative. But it also brings emotional balance, not irrationally emotional, and not too cold and calculating.

So the New Moon May 2023 astrology is excellent for making a fresh start, turning over a new leaf, or starting a new project. You can also question old habits, behaviors, and beliefs while searching for new and inventive ways to progress.

T-Square

Mars square Jupiter gives the energy and initiative to start new projects and take risks to achieve large-scale success. But although enthusiastic, you may become coarse or tactless. The best way to harness this impulsive energy is to use forethought and strategy. Avoid acting rashly without considering the consequences of your brave actions. Choose your fights carefully.

Jupiter square Pluto on May 17 is the most substantial influence on the New Moon May 2023 astrology. It gives an intense drive to get ahead. Success, power, and influence are all possible, but without some care, there could be a price to pay.

Ruthless determination, greed, and corruption may get you there quicker or make you more money but at what cost? Obsessive and compulsive behavior would not only cause relationship problems at home but can also earn you powerful enemies.

Mars opposite Pluto brings an intense passion for achieving your strongest desires. You may go to great lengths to achieve victory in this competitive spirit. But bullying, cruelty, threats, or intimidation will result in strong resistance and powerful enemies. If you can channel aggressive and dominating urges constructively, notable achievements are possible.

T-Square

New Moon T-Square

The T-Square aspect pattern, formed by Mars, Jupiter and Pluto, promotes action, achievement and the attainment of goals. Energy is stored and bottled up in Mars opposite Pluto, and the tension produced is discharged along both squares to the apex planet Jupiter. This is where achievement is made and transferred into work by the discharge of tension.

A T-Square makes you very active, with a tendency to act first and think later. An unsuccessful energy transfer leads to rigid states of awareness, where you cannot change, and the same mistakes are repeated. So you should break your work into sections and complete each stage as quickly as possible. After a short or long break, you can return to work with renewed vigor.

Easy Opposition

New Moon sextile Mars brings energy, confidence, strength, courage, initiative, motivation and a competitive spirit. Your relationships, especially intimate ones, will benefit from extra warmth, charm, charisma and sex appeal. This success-oriented aspect is excellent for fulfilling your passionate desires, starting ambitious new projects, dating, physical activity, creative work and business matters.

New Moon trine Pluto brings intensity, power and influence. Higher self-esteem, single-mindedness and tremendous drive help you reach your goals. You can positively transform any area of life and resolve complex personal or professional problems more efficiently. This is an excellent influence for uncovering secrets, researching and gaining an in-depth understanding of mysterious or occult subjects.

Mars opposite Pluto mentioned earlier, brings an intense passion to achieve your strongest desires. But aggression, bullying, threats, or intimidation will most likely backfire.

New Moon May 2023 in Taurus

A Single Ambivalence aspect pattern, or Easy Opposition, gives an ambivalent attitude, a dualistic world outlook, and a tendency to think in black-and-white terms. A sometimes absolutist “either/or attitude” can lead to arguments. The blue apex (New Moon) forms a third pole to the opposition planets, indicating a switch point in correctly managing the ambivalent energies.

Mainly living at the New Moon allows you to enjoy life and makes Mars opposite Pluto more bearable. But the opposition will always cause problems if you ignore it. The key to enjoying life and success is to proactively use the New Moon to solve problems as soon as they arise. The skills and determination provided by this aspect pattern can then lead to outstanding achievements.

Minor Grand Trine

New Moon sextile Mars already mentioned brings confidence, initiative, strength, courage and sex appeal. It is excellent for business, physical activity, competition and dating.

New Moon sextile Neptune brings intuition, imagination, creativity and compassion. You can visualize or dream up your ideal future. So make new goals now to turn your dreams into reality. Relationships become more romantic and benefit from a shared understanding that may be non-verbal. Vivid dreaming, occult and mystical work, astrology, and religion can increase self-understanding.

Mars trine Neptune brings magnetic sexual attractiveness and sultry charm. It makes relationships more romantic, passionate, tender and spiritual. If dating, you could find your soul mate. Moral courage and a fighting spirit help you stand up for your rights, defend your loved ones or fight for a worthy cause. A non-threatening approach allows you to effectively motivate people without being forceful or bossy.

Minor Grand Trine

New Moon Minor Grand Trine

A Minor Grand Trine indicates competence, expressiveness, harmony and still-developing talent and skills. The apex of the Minor Grand Trine, where the sextiles meet, represents your goal direction. You can be careful and selective in your goal setting because this aspect pattern reduces friction and conflict.

The apex of this Minor Grand Trine is the New Moon. Knowledge and experiences from Mars trine Neptune are absorbed in the New Moon through the sextiles. With a minimum of active exertion and hard work, you can be busy “around the clock” without tiring and put your abilities to optimal use, often for the benefit of others.

The Constellations

The May 2023 New Moon is in the Sign of Taurus and the Constellations of Taurus. The image below shows that the new moon aligns with a cluster of stars called Pleiades. There are seven stars in the Pleiades, but only the brightest, Alcyone, is used in astrology.

New Moon May 2023 Meaning

New Moon May 2023 [Stellarium]

The May 19 New Moon also aligns with three stars in Constellation Perseus. The brightest is Algol in the Head of Medusa, and Misam and Miram are minor stars not used in astrology.

  • 26♉29 – Beta Persei, Algol
  • 28♉00 – Kappa Persei, Misam
  • 28♉25 – New Moon May 2023
  • 29♉01 – Eta Persei, Miram
  • 00♊18 – Eta Tauri, Alcyone

The list above shows that Alcyone (1°53′) and Algol (1°56′) are roughly the same longitudinal distance from the new moon, and their orbs of influence are the same at 2°00′. However, Algol has a stronger impact on the New Moon May 2023 astrology. This is because the Sun and Moon have already passed Algol, i.e., the New Moon makes a superior conjunction with Algol. The Sun and Moon are approaching Alcyone (an inferior conjunction).

Algol

Constellation Perseus gives an intelligent, strong, bold and adventurous nature but a tendency to lie. [1] The constellation indicates events affecting many people, especially those caused by major meteorological phenomena. [2]

Fixed star Algol causes misfortune, violence, decapitation, hanging, electrocution and mob violence and gives a dogged and violent nature. It is the most evil star in the heavens. [1]

However, “high spiritual rays” are emanating from Algol also, but only those human beings can receive them who have already reached high spiritual development. [3] How Algol manifests depends entirely on how the person concerned does or does not live life with an honest sense of purpose, a desire at least to try to live up to some philosophy, religion or ideal. If that is present, then all will go well. [4]

With New Moon: Violent death or extreme sickness. [1] Accidents and severe injuries are very difficult to avoid. [3]

Alcyone

Fixed star Alcyone causes love, eminence, blindness from fevers, smallpox, accidents to the face, disgrace, a violent death, many journeys and voyages, and success in agriculture and through active intelligence. It makes its natives wanton, ambitious, turbulent, optimistic and peaceful. [1] Alcyone is associated with deep sorrows, tragedies and bereavements. [4]

With New Moon: Throat ailments, chronic catarrh, blindness, bad eyes, injuries to the face, wounds, stabs, sickness, misfortune, disgrace, evil disposition, murderer or murdered, imprisonment, death by pestilence, blows, stabs, shooting, beheading or shipwreck. [1]

New Moon May 2023 Summary

The New Moon May 2023 astrology is the most complex I have seen in a moon phase, and it is not easy to put all the pieces together into a coherent summary. There are three aspect patterns, and I have not even looked at other important aspects and fixed stars in the May 19 New Moon horoscope.

The most significant planetary aspect to the New Moon is the sextile to Mars. But overall, Jupiter square Pluto stands out as the strongest aspect of 2023.

Jupiter square Pluto gives intense ambition. But ruthless behavior will have consequences. Pluto will try to eliminate greed, corruption, immorality and other negative manifestations of Jupiter. This means bankruptcies, foreclosures, recession, falls in share prices, job losses and other repercussions of corporate greed.

Mars opposite Pluto further intensifies ambitions but also frustration and impulsiveness. Amplified by the T-square and the April 20 Solar Eclipse at 29°50′, conjunct Jupiter, this could quickly explode into cruelty and violence.

The New Moon sextile Mars is the key to harnessing the tension of the T-Square into achievement. Its strength and courage can be used to fulfill your most passionate desires. There are enough harmonious aspects to achieve success, happiness and peace. But with the New Moon between Algol and Alcyone, the danger is that some will succeed in fulfilling their evil desires.

Finally, New Moon in May 2023 and Jupiter in the constellation Perseus heighten the risk of crises affecting large portions of the global population. There may be volcanic eruptions, earthquakes, storms and flooding, epidemics, famine, wars, mass killings, genocide and financial or political crises.

The influence of the May 19 New Moon lasts four weeks up to the June 18 New Moon. The best time for starting new projects is during the two-week waxing moon phase, from May 19 to the June 3 Full Moon.
